Guiding tools for Professional Skills development in VET

Issue 3
  • The Toolkit for Professional Guidance and Coaching, that comprises three main resources: i) Soft skills self-assessment tool, an online tool allowing trainees and professionals to assess the level of development of trainees’ soft skills; (ii) Success@work manual, a manual introducing a set of activities addressed to trainees, fostering the development of their soft skills; iii) Soft skills profile, guidelines to support vocational education and training counsellors, in guiding trainees in the self-assessment process.
  • The Programme for Professional Development of Professionals, that integrates two products: i) Training course for VET professionals and ii) Youth Empowerment, a handbook with guidelines and activities for VET trainers.

Blickpunkt Identität 
On April 3, Austrian partner Blickpunkt Identität presented the draft versions of the products of the VET GPS project to 16 representatives of the Upper Austrian Youth Coaching, who are active at vocational schools.

At this event, it was discussed how these external counsellors can integrate the products of the VET GPS project into their consulting and support services.

3rd Partners meeting in Vienna

The 3rd transnational meeting of “VET-GPS: Guiding Tools for Professional Skills development in VET” was held in Vienna, hosted by Blickpunkt Identität an organization specialised in developing methods for integrating disadvantaged persons into the work-life.

The partners had the opportunity to participate in different workshops and work on three products:
  • SUCCESS@WORK, which is a manual providing the guidelines, information and resources, allowing counsellors to support trainees in self-assessment and reinforcement their soft skills;
  • YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, a handbook with activities to b used by trainers in their daily classes, to strengthen trainees’ soft skills;
  • VE-Business cooperation Framework, a document addressed to SMEs, fostering the improvement of cooperation and communication with VET providers and professionals.
It was a very fruitful meeting in which partners had the opportunity to finalise the main products of the project.

Joint staff training event, hosted by Pixel in Florence!

In the context of the activity ‘Short-term joint staff training’ partners attended to this meeting. It was three intense and fruitful days of practical training that combined presentations with workshops, simulations and brainstorming, involving trainers and counsellors from different organisations, discussing and debating about on:

  • How to integrate soft skills in the VET offer?
  • How to support VET professionals to assess and promote the soft skills of trainees, actively involving them in this process?
  • What do VET professionals need to know, learn and have to successfully support and guide young trainees in the definition of their programme for the development of their soft skills?
  • How to contribute the establishment, strengthen and maintenance of VET-Business cooperation in VET system?
