AUGUST 2021
Toba Talk

The team at Toba Centre would like to extend a tremendous thank you to all of the participants of our first annual Golf FUNdraiser, sponsored by Bockstael Construction, which was held on August 4, 2021 at Pine Ridge Golf Course!

We were blessed with sunny skies and warm (but not too warm) weather. Everyone had so much fun, and perhaps after COVID lock-downs we were all primed to have an especially enjoyable time. Whatever the reason, many people came to tell me this was one of the best golf tournaments they’d ever attended.

While we didn’t have any hole-in-ones we did have Jake Bell offer the winning bid on a remarkable donated artwork Peggy's Heart by artist Peggy Talbot. We were also gratified that the Honourable Rochelle Squires was able to join us along with Winnipeg Free Press editor Paul Samyn. A huge thanks to Obby Khan and Joe Aiello for volunteering their time at the event.

The day would not have been possible without our title sponsor Bockstael Construction and the many additional sponsors outlined below. The community’s giving spirit is truly humbling and we thank each of you for your support.

"Events like Toba Centre’s inaugural Golf FUNdraiser are imperative to the future success of Toba and its crucial mandate. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and applaud the flawless execution of the event from the Toba Team. We’re proud to support Toba Centre and look forward to returning next year!"

Titan Contractors (Kenora) Ltd

We are simply thrilled that the event raised over $114,000! These funds will be used to support Toba Centre’s growth into a full-fledged child advocacy centre at our new location at 700 Assiniboine Drive. With the commitment of our community, we will be able to provide wrap-around services to ensure abused children have the best opportunity possible to recover from their trauma.

I would like to also extend a personal thank you to Don Smith and Lorraine Maciboric, the Golf FUNdraiser Co-Chairs who are really responsible for pulling this event together. With COVID restrictions and this being the first ever event, there were considerable challenges to overcome. Bravo! A job well done!

Ride for Refuge

Ride for Refuge

_

Toba Centre is once again participating in the 2021 Ride for Refuge, joining hundreds of charities across Canada in a freestyle fundraising event.

Help Us Raise $28,000!

Our goal is to register 14 Team Captains to recruit 6-8 friends/families/co-workers and to raise as much as they can from now until October 2, 2021.

There are so many ways to ‘ride’ – on your feet, on a bicycle, or freestyle your own activity:

  • Walk 5 km – a Ride Classic

  • Ride 10 km on bike – about 30-45 min

  • Set a goal for cumulative steps over a time period

  • Hike a trail

  • Run, spin, swim, lift, or sweat with your favourite activity

  • Learn about more ways you can participate to help charities like Toba!

Register as an individual or be a Team Captain to get your whole family working together for Toba Centre. Make sure to email us to notify us of your registration so we can ensure we’re able to support your efforts.
