The Art of Nursing takes nursing students to look at art and hone their observation skills. Guided by art education students and faculty, the program challenges aspiring nurses to engage more deeply with art—and, consequently, their patients and experiences on the job.

Pamela Lawton at Tate Modern

Pamela Lawton, associate professor in the VCUarts art education department, took her long-running project “Artstories” across the pond to Tate Exchange at Tate Modern in London. With altered books, participants worked together to create counter-narratives about marginalized communities, and share their hopes for the future.
