Message from the CEO

Welcome to our newly formatted Curling Connection. We hope you will find it easier to read the articles you are most interested in and, of course, we would appreciate receiving any feedback you have on this new approach.

There has been lots of great progress towards Curl BC's Vision 2020 Strategic Plan confirmed over the past month as follows:
  • Over $1M contributed to curling, including 33 clubs, through BC Community and Capital Gaming grants over the past year
  • Connect Hearing established as the title sponsor of the BC Masters Championship. Deal includes $250 for each club that hosts a Connect Hearing educational clinic (up to 20 in total)
  • TV and streaming coverage confirmed for the 2019 BC Men's, Women's, Junior and U18 events (more exposure for youth curling)
  • Club fundraiser established with the Sandra Schmirler Foundation of which 50% will be allocated to a BC curling club development fund
  • Almost 2,000 room nights booked through Best Western over the past year resulting in over $50,000 in savings for Curl BC members
We look forward to hearing how your curling season is progressing and how we can help.

In Remembrance

After a brave battle with cancer, Terry Miller peacefully left us on October 25. Terry was a well loved man with a sense of humour, a friend to many, an avid curler (Brier 1965), golfer (5 handicap) and traveller. He was a math teacher at Magee Secondary for many years. Terry will be deeply missed by his son Allan (Paula), brother Barry (Pat), granddaughters Kristin and Jenna, many friends, and his Parksville Curling Club and golfing buddies. At Terry's request, no service will be held.
