After six dynamic years, I will be leaving this amazing organization that I have called home to be the next Executive Director of the Raikes Foundation. During this journey, I have had the deep honor of working with a powerful, diverse and talented team and, together, we have seen this organization through many phases.

Along the way, I have had the pleasure of working with all of you, and leaning into what it means to create a "neighborhood," or a sense of community for people within philanthropy who are working hand in hand with advocates and organizers to make possible the just world we all want to see.

While I will be leaving NFG, I am confident in the durability of what we have built—an organization grounded on a deep belief in equity and justice, and a trusted community for all who are interested in improving their grantmaking in this way. With the brilliant leadership of Adriana Rocha and Sarita Ahuja as Interim Co-Directors during the transition. NFG will continue to be a well-run, healthy, and high impact organization that enters its 40th year as strong and relevant as it’s ever been.

I have learned a lot during my time at NFG: How to be grounded in what’s most important, how to roll with the inevitable setbacks we all experience in our work to advance justice, and how much more possible it is to win when you are working in partnership with community. While I am leaving NFG, I am not leaving the NFG community or our collective mission to see philanthropy become more effective in supporting deep democracy, real equity, and opportunity for all, especially those who don’t have enough.

I am excited to continue this work at the Raikes Foundation. I have been impressed with the commitment, vision, and team that comprises the Raikes Foundation, from the staff to Jeff and Tricia Raikes. I look forward to communicating more with all of you as I begin my next adventure.
With deep gratitude,
Dennis
