The Entrepreneurship Club (E-Club) is a growing group at Cabrillo College dedicated to exploring the different ways to start, conduct, and get involved in business. The student club first started in Spring 2021, but had slow beginnings due to most students still being fully online for school. Now, with more students on campus, the club is back and stronger than ever before. With the E-Club getting started near mid semester, the size of it has doubled nearing the end of the semester. The members rave about the speakers we have had present for the club and we expect to attract the attention of many more students during spring. We will cover topics such as grant writing, marketing, giving pitches, and more. This club has become a space where students feel comfortable and encouraged to share their ideas. It is a collaborative group where each meeting, members play off of each other and spark ideas for future projects and businesses of their own.

2+2 Transfer Pathways Update
with Claire Thorson & Lesley Louden,
Art Studio/Photography Faculty

We’ve had a blast meeting with faculty and staff from CSUMB this last year. There are so many exciting topics to pursue. We’re looking at creating two tracks into the CSUMB’s Visual and Public Arts program, one for students who are taking Art Studio courses and one for students interested primarily in Art Photography. The 2+2 pathway aligns with the AA-T so students will earn their degree as well as be able to transfer with ease to CSUMB. Our expert articulation officers are working together to identify Cabrillo courses that will articulate to CSUMB programs. Next up, we are planning a visit to CSUMBs new screen printing studio, accessible darkroom facilities, and Fábrica. Introducing Cabrillo and CSUMB art students to each other via speaker events and art workshops are exciting opportunities on the horizon. We can’t wait for next steps!

Cabrillo 2+2 CSUMB Student Highlight with Jorge Fernandez Mora

Being a part of the 2+2 program has been such a blessing, where the help they provide means the world. I graduated from high school at the start of the pandemic where I had no idea what to do or how to pick my college courses. With this program, I was able to plan out my degree and classes for transfer. They help make sure I am on track and see if my schedule works, and they are always doing checkups on me. These checkups are something I always appreciate because they put a tremendous effort into caring for us, the students! Throughout my college journey, there were moments where I was unsure of what to do either through troublesome moments or things going on in life, yet, the program was there for me. Just recently, they helped me change my major so that I can become a high school math teacher. They helped me realign my courses and provided so much guidance. The program's coordinator, counselor, and staff have helped me so much that I appreciate it greatly. I am excited to see what awaits ahead of my career and am glad the 2+2 program has been a part of this journey!
