Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our facilities are closed from March 16 and until further notice. However , the team of the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment will continue to be available from Monday to Friday. Good health and peace is our wish for you and your loved ones!
Notice was issued to applicants to the OAS scholarship and training programs on the COVID-19 situation
Through a statement posted on the Scholarship Program website and through its social channels on Facebook and Twitter, applicants were notified that the OAS will do everything possible to ensure that scholarship and training opportunities remain viable. However, they were advised  that the process could be affected by the decisions of academic institutions and offering partners, causing possible delays and / or cancellation.
Governments take steps to protect workers and employers from the global pandemic
The governments of the Hemisphere, through their Ministries of Labor, have announced measures to protect workers and employers from the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. Some of the measures include exceptional leave for workers returning  from zones with registered cases, guides to avoid contagion in the workplace, guidelines to implement telework, and the assignation of economic relief and flexibility in the delivery of unemployment schemes benefits.

CIE technical secretariat makes resources available to the Ministries of Education to support their work during the COVID-19 crisis
The Technical Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Education (CIE) has gathered the following resources to make available to the Ministries of Education of the region in order to support their work during the COVID-19 crisis. This information will be constantly updated.
OAS along with the community of the Mobile for Education Alliance analyze collective contributions in light of COVID-19
The OAS, through its Technical Secretariat of the CIE, participated in a call on Friday, March 20, to analyze a response or collective contributions by the community of the Mobile for Education Alliance  in light of COVID-19. Currently, a list of publications, websites and articles related to COVID-19 in crisis and conflict situations has been posted on the Alliance Resources page.
Open Call for the Academic Scholarship Program for Graduate Studies and Research 2020
The OAS Department of Human Development, Education and Employment is pleased to announce that the call for Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Studies and/or Research leading to a degree is open for the 2020 selection process. The Call for Applications has been issued with extended deadlines, which will be revised as the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) develops. The announcement will be published on our website in the next few days. The online undergraduate studies application or the graduate studies application forms can be access here.  Applicants must contact the National Liaison Offices (ONEs) in their respective countries for information on requirements and deadlines.
13th RIAL-OAS Call for Bilateral Cooperation closes and results are published
From January 15th to March 10th, the Ministries of Labor of the region sent their proposals to receive technical assistance from their peers in the hemisphere through the RIAL Fund. The Technical Secretariat received a total of 45 proposals including 20 countries from all sub-regions. The most recurring topics were child labor, occupational safety and health, professional training and skills certification and individual and collective labor dispute resolution. Check results here.
Department participates in an Online Regional Dialogue for the Americas
From March 20 to April 26, the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment is participating in an online dialogue entitled "Toward Innovation and Renewal of Regional and Global Governance" along with organizations such as the Stimson Center, Global Challenges Foundation, Together First, UN2020, Igarapé Institute, among others. It is a platform to open the conversation around key issues and questions on the future of multilateralism and its impact at the global, regional and national levels in the Americas

Launch of the ProFuturo Program in The Bahamas and Saint Lucia
During the last week of February, the ProFuturo program was launched in The Bahamas and Saint Lucia . These openings took place within the framework of the first onsite training for officials of the Ministries of Education, 24 school principals and 36 teachers who will become coaches of the ProFuturo program. In turn, these coaches will train more than 400 teachers in the use of ICTs for innovation in education this year. Both events were chaired by the Ministers of Education of each country.
Jamaica RIED Teacher Fellow inspires pre-service students and teachers in STEM teaching - learning
On February 11, Bhagya Malladi, ITEN Teacher Fellow, organized her first "Youth Power" science exhibition in Kingston, where more than 250 7th grade students built robotic arms and other technological devices from recycled materials to learn about energy transformations and its conservation, demonstrating to students, teachers and administrators that it is possible to do STEM in a budget. The Eighth University Internationalization Seminar was held
On March 2 and 3, the Eight International Seminar was held at OAS Headquarters in Washington, DC to promote the internationalization of universities in the hemisphere and seek to attract public policy makers, educators, and experts to examine the state of higher education in the Americas. The event, linked to the Brazil Scholarships program, included participants and representatives of international organizations, government officials from the region, education experts, high-level officials and professors from higher education institutions.
