FEATURING: Our Fleet, Fantastic
More on Fleet Matters: a Part Deux [missed Part One?]
And our fleet is rather fantastic but its care by some leaves others wondering... It's high-time to think on our fleet like it's a timeshare: it's your boat for the time you have use of it, so take care of it because it's your boat!
After all...
- Would you leave your boat untied on outdoor racks, risking it being nudged or blown off?
- Would you allow a little more time to wash the inside as well as the outside of your boat, so your boat and its parts last longer?
|
|
|
And now, you asked for it!
Now there's many a way to log an issue with a boat or blade... SIX in fact:
- Of course, via the WEYHey! app (under the #justonemorething banner)
- By bookmarking this direct link: bit.ly/WEYBoatRepairs
- With your smartphone's camera, use the QR code on the 'WEY To Boat' board in the boathouse
- By following the link provided at bit.ly/WEYToBookBoats (top left-hand corner)
- By emailing fleet@weybridgerowing.org.uk - being sure to include the same details asked for in this form and any photos, if it helps
- Using the new boat audit / pre-boating checklist (shown below): which, really, is nothing new or beyond what you already do before boating... right?!
These sheets with clipboards will be available to the left of the ‘WEY To Boat’ board. Anything already noted on this whiteboard will be transferred to the main log (where you can check for updates) and reviewed along with everything else, once we are through the busy-ness of Silver Sculls!

A couple or three other key things to note or remember:
- Before re-rigging a boat, please check first with captain@weybridgerowing.club - please do not just change it! Assuming all OK to re-rig and then once re-rigged, please mark up WEY To Book Boats accordingly, under column ‘B’ (Config now).
- WEY have a newly appointed Fleet Manager, Theresa Capel. With thanks to outgoing Fleet Manager, Eva Ferlez, Terrie will pick up from where Eva left off:
- Triaging issues as they are logged, as well as posting progress updates;
- Reviewing the state of our fleet by conducting a fleet-wide boat and blades audit - anyone who's free during half-term week is most welcome to join: Wednesday 23rd from 1:30pm and/or Thursday from 10:00am - letting fleet@weybridgerowing.org.uk know; and
- Moving on to setting up a rota for regular fleet audits, boathouse work-parties and stock checks and ordering
- Also any requests for a refresh of shoes or seats or to re-stock parts more generally - runners, wheels, top-nuts covers, gates, gate adjusters, etc, etc - can be made using the same SIX ways listed above.
Many thanks
