Help with Recruitment Efforts!

It’s that time of year again when we recruit new members.  Here’s how you can help.

1) We are asking you to add the “Ask Me About the Junior League” frame created by the Junior League of Columbus to your Facebook profile picture, and keep it up until September 2nd. We’ve created a quick step-by-step video if you’re not sure how to do this. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XrigI7cApZzk1TshWkc2Uaz3-eGkx6av/view

If your friends ask you about JLLI, here’s a sample statement that you can share - The Junior League of Long Island is a group of women who are committed to creating a stronger community.  We do a variety of volunteer projects throughout the year. Our projects have centered around childhood nutrition, literacy and girl empowerment. And, we provide leadership training.

THEN FOLLOW IT UP WITH …
1.    I joined because…
2.    This year we’re working on …
3.    One of my favorite projects is …

2) The Communications Committee has started a "Meet Our Members" campaign on social media. We are hoping it will attract new members, as well as let our members and followers learn a little more about us as individuals. We did this a few years ago, and it was fun. If you'd like to be included, please email communications@jlli.org by answering these questions -
•    How many years have you've been in the league? I can look it up if you don't remember.
•    What do you like best about JLLI?
•    What was your favorite JLLI project or experience?

and answer ONE of the below questions -
•    What is your favorite hobby? AND also send a photo of you doing what you love.
•    What pets do you have and what are their names? AND also send a photo of you with your pets.
•    Who is in your family? AND also send a family photo.
•    What is your occupation? AND also send a photo of you at work.

3) Our Virtual Meet & Greet is scheduled for September 1st. We hope that you can join us, and invite a friend. We’ve planned a fun Scavenger Hunt activity, which will also include information about our league. Please help us spread the word by also sharing the Facebook Event https://www.facebook.com/events/3356547211058053 that has been posted in Facebook.

Let's beat the record for the largest number of women voting!

Let's beat the record for the largest number of women voting!

Looking for a great way to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment? Or an engaging virtual Member activity? The Junior League, together with other women's organizations, will be participating in Vision2020Votes, a national, nonpartisan effort to get more women than ever registered and voting.

What's the activity?
Vision2020Votes uses Motivote, a digital platform that helps you help your League Members, friends, family and community get ready to vote in the next election. Motivote makes it simple by sharing the most up to date information about voting, walking you through the steps to prepare to vote while earning rewards points along the way for every action you take. Rewards points can be redeemed for a variety of prizes.

Did you say Prizes?
YES! We'll be competing not only alongside other organizations to get the most women involved, but racing together with other Junior Leagues to see who gets the most Members engaged and ultimately create the biggest impact. The details:
•    All participating Leagues are eligible to win monthly prizes for the highest number of 'action points" completed each month.
•    To be equitable, three League winners will be selected at the end of each month based on League size blocks. The blocks are based on membership totals–inclusive of all Provisional, Active and Sustaining Members. Size blocks are: Small 1-399; Medium 400-999; Large 1,000+.
•    August Prize: 1 free registration to the Special Fall Meeting in October for each size grouping
•    September Prize: 1 free registration to the Winter Leadership Conference in January for each size grouping
•    October Prize: 1 hour social media consultation with Abbie McGilvery, AJLI's Social Media Strategist, for each size grouping.

2019-2020 Year in Review

Check out the great work that was done on Long Island this year.
Thank you to our members for their tireless work!

Virtual Food Drive Continues

With so many still out of work, Long Islanders have been struggling to provide enough food for their families. Since the onset of COVID-19, food insecurity has risen by 70%, as more people turn to food banks for assistance. We've partnered with two regional food banks, Island Harvest and Long Island Cares, to host a Virtual Food Drive. Just click the link and you'll be able to shop for food that will go directly to the food bank of your choice. https://yougivegoods.com/jlli
