JLLI Member Stephanie Espina and Finance Director Cristine Bruno represented JLLI at the New York State Public Affairs Committee (NYSPAC) of The Junior League Winter Conference on January 25-26. They joined community partners and speakers: Jennifer Wilson from the League of Women Voters, Cora Schroeter from Congressman Tonko’s office, Lorien Castelle from NYSCADV, Natalie Birch-Higgins from The Legal Project, as well as representatives from other NY Junior Leagues.
JLLI President Christina Ho, and Membership Training Director Carol St. Jacques attended the 2020 Winter Leadership Conference on February 6-7 in Scottsdale, AZ. At the Conference, League leadership teams had the opportunity to work together with counterparts from other Leagues to explore and learn best practices.
On February 7-8, the Fall Provisional class hosted “Positively Me” for 14 girls from TriCYA and Community Housing Innovations. “Positively Me” is a time where girls are able to speak freely about issues they face in home and school, and through various workshops, they’re equipped with tools and resources to navigate these issues, foster confidence and inner strength. Congratulations to our Fall Provisionals and the Membership Development team for a job well done!
Pajama Program was held on February 11 where JLLI donated warm sleepwear and nurturing books to children in need. We are proud to share that our members read to 25 children aged 4-12 living at Community Housing Innovations (CHI) and we gifted them brand new pajamas and new books. We also donated 50 more pairs of pajamas to CHI for any other resident children and 50 books to their children’s library. Thank you to everyone who participated!
