On October 10, JLLI partnered with One World Girl, Inc., Domestic Harmony and Girls Inc., Long Island in organizing and running the International Day of the Girl EmPOWER event!  This very special program included a speaking panel of women with diverse backgrounds and experiences, including JLLI Past President Diana O’Neill.  Girl attendees also made empowering art projects, led by the One World Girl, Inc. Youth Advisory Council.   
         

           
       




On October 23, JLLI Sustainers held a Legacy Tree Unveiling and Dinner.  Over 30 Sustainers attended to commemorate Christina Genco and Joanne Breglia, as the first leaves were added to the Legacy Tree.  Many thanks to co-chairs Carol Condon and Diana O’Neill, and the rest of the Sustainer board (Tyran Sullivan, Kelly Morgano, Liz Stewart, Deidra Pierce Maleno, Laura Petras, Michele Stollsteimer & Joel Blainey, Co-Presidents) for all of their hard work to make the event so special.



                                


  



On October 27, JLLI members prepared brunch for 98 people staying at The Ronald McDonald House.  Thanks to our volunteers for their hard work!  Surely was a feel-good Done-In-A-Day!




              
              
             




The October GMM was rescheduled and held on October 28th.  At the meeting, Laura Madsen, Public Issues Chair, educated members on some of the issues that AJLI is currently addressing.
 

 

 

FOOD DRIVE
Our Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive is underway. Once again JLLI will be assembling 125 food baskets so that families can enjoy Thanksgiving. Recipients are members of various community organizations that we partner with around Long Island. If you would like to donate food or funds towards the Thanksgiving Basket Drive, please contact Alicia Aguilera at alissher@aol.com.

Every member will receive three reminder emails before the survey closes on November 25. The higher the participation, the more statistically reliable the results will be.
