August 18th - August 20th I had the opportunity to fly down to Orlando, Florida to partake in the Small Leagues Big Impact (SLBI) Junior League Conference. SLBI is an affinity group that we are able to join and get additional tailored support to help smaller leagues continue to grow and thrive. At this conference I was able to meet with other Presidents, Presidents Elects and Council Vice Presidents to discuss issues facing our small leagues such as membership recruitment and ongoing commitments, management tips and tricks and league governance. We all attended excellent presentations on Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) as well as conflict management, communication within the league both internally and externally. I even got the chance to meet friends throughout the country in New York, Colorado, Kansas and Ohio and have been asked to help review Thrift Store operations at the Junior League of Summit New Jersey which should be a testament to our own store's success. During the September GMM I will have a quick presentation to go over the highlights of what I've learned and am proud to present to the League!
- Remi Farnan, President-Elect 2022-2023
