It is tradition each January for our President to award those members whom she feels have helped her and the League tremendously throughout the first half of her Presidency. This year Carol St. Jacques has deemed Cristine Bruno, Remi Farnan, and Loretta Hahn as her Angels!

Congratulations and thank you ladies for all of your hard work and help this year!

In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we have learned that Mrs. Nancy Erskine Grace Hussey passed away peacefully at her home on November 26th, 2021, at the age of 99. Nancy was a founder of the North Shore Service League and the first president for The Junior League of Long Island, after the League was officiated into the Association of Junior Leagues International.

Below please find a portrait of Nancy from our March 1963 Shorelines as she is reading the Telegram, also pictured below, to the then Junior League of the North Shore L.I. Membership announcing our induction into the then Association of Junior Leagues of America.

Nominate a Member - January Spotlight

This Woman Crush Wednesday we are excited to introduce our January Member Nominated Spotlight for 2021-2022, Emilie Doleshel!

This year is Emilie’s 3rd as an active member; she was adopted from Korea at 7 months old and raised in Gilroy, CA, the garlic capital of the world! Emilie went to college in the Midwest, moved back to the Silicon Valley before moving to Tucson, AZ for 3 years before moving to Long Island in 2018 for her husband's job. Professionally, Emilie is the Associate Director of Campus Visit at Hofstra University. She works in admissions and manages their tour guide program while overseeing all the admission events! She is most excited this league year to see people in real life! Her favorite Junior League memory is Planning the book carnival with my provisional class or co-chairing membership development with Ashley!

When asked why did you initially join The Junior League? Emilie responded, “Being new to the area, I wanted to make friends and get to know my new home area. I have always been an active volunteer in my community, and I wanted to learn more about the places to do that here on Long Island.”

Thank you, Emilie, for being a wonderful League member and an excellent example of voluntarism!
If you would like to nominate someone please email Communications@JLLI.org with their name, position, and why you think they should be spotlighted.
