Prospective members met at our headquarters for “Super Saturday” on September 7th!  Board members and committee chairs talked about why they joined JLLI and their favorite volunteer opportunities.
 

On September 9th, the Junior League of Long Island presented Long Island Crisis Center with a check for $2,500 from our Community Service Fund. JLLI kicked of the 2019-2020  year with the 1st General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, September 9th! It was wonderful to have so many members in attendance.  Pictured below is Christina Ho, JLLI's current President and Stephanie Mangels, President-Elect.
 

 

On September 26th, JLLI hosted the Long Island Volunteer Center (LIVC) VIP Reception. The event kicked-off  LIVC’s upcoming 25th Anniversary celebrations, and honored many of their amazing volunteers, including Anne Flynn Sprotte, JLLI Past President. 
 

The Project Playground build at Pal-O-Mine Equestrian is complete!  It was an honor to partner with Pal-O-Mine and The Andy Foundation on this very special project. Thank you to all of the members, friends, family and supporters who came out to volunteer!  The League would like to especially thank Melissa Beyer, Project Playground Chair, for her steadfast dedication and commitment to this project.  If you would like to see the new playground, Pal-O-Mine is hosting an Open House on October 13th, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:45 pm. 
 

 

 

JLLI has again partnered with Domestic Harmony Foundation, Girls Inc., and One World Girl for the EmPOWER Girls Event, a celebration of International Day of the Girl. This year Diana O’Neill will be joining us as one of the guest speakers. Tickets are available at the Eventbrite link.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to donate menstrual products for the service project, please bring them to the October GMM. All items collected are being donated to The Safe Center L.I., which services victims of domestic or dating abuse, child abuse, and rape and sexual assault.

Champions for Charity will be held at the Americana in Manhasset from Thursday, December 5th through Saturday, December 7th.  25% of all purchases made will be donated towards the purchaser’s chosen charity(ies) - we hope you will participate and select JLLI!  A kick-off party and JLLI dinner will be held on Thursday, 12/5 - stay tuned for more details including time and location. 

 

JLLI received a $1,448.04 donation through our members' participation at last year's Champions for Charity event.  Let's raise even more money for the League this year!
