Every year the Junior League of Long Island sets aside monies from our fundraising efforts to give back to local non-profits on Long Island via our Community Service Fund. On August 6, members Ashley Cohen and Cindy Dwyer, presented One World Girl President and Executive Director Lesley Mazzotta, along with some of their Youth Advisory Team members, with a check for $2,500 to help fund their Leadership Through Creativity program. This arts-based program supports H.S. girls’ development as authentic, powerful and innovative leaders in the world.
The second Meet & Greet of the summer was held on August 14th at Cafe Havana. It was a great opportunity for members and women interested in learning more about our league to meet each other. A big thank you to everyone who attended, and to the Membership Development committee for organizing the event!
JLLI's 2nd Annual Potluck BBQ was held on August 17th at Belmont Lake State Park. Members enjoyed good food and good company - thank you to everyone who came out!
JLLI Board Members, Committee Chairs and Advisors met together on August 26th at Bryant Library for Leadership Training. Members discussed policies, procedures and plans for the 2019-2020 League year. Attendees received new JLLI branded swag! Members also had the pleasure of having Diana O’Neill address them as their keynote speaker. Diana was a JLLI President in 1995-1996, is the retired executive director of the Long Island Volunteer Center, and was the visionary behind Prom Boutique, which will be celebrating it’s 25th year. It was an inspiring evening!
