Our November General Membership Meeting included a Thanksgiving Potluck with prizes given out for the best sweet and savory dishes. Congratulations to this year’s winners! At the meeting, the Fund Development committee presented fundraising ideas for the year. We also had the privilege of hearing from guest speaker Police Officer Steve Krukowski who provided Active Shooter Training for our membership. Lastly, Marianna Dayre & Juliet Tenaglia were highlighted for their efforts in coordinating the Ronald McDonald House DIAD!
Members of JLLI attended the Long Island Volunteer Center's 25th Anniversary Celebration on November 14th at the Heritage Club in Bethpage where JLLI Past President Anne Sprotte, and her family, were honored for their service. 22 active and sustaining members were in attendance to represent The Junior League with a combined 342 years of volunteer service between them!
On November 23rd, JLLI members came together to assemble 125 Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need. This year’s recipients are members of St. Aidan’s parish, First Presbyterian Church, Yes We Can Community Center and Family Service League. Thank you to the businesses and members who graciously donated food items and gift cards!
Children of our members also participated in the “Do Good, Feel Good” JLLI tradition of Thanksgiving Baskets, fostering the value of voluntarism and the importance of giving back. Well done kids!
Immediately following the Thanksgiving Baskets DIAD, members participated in a Holiday Wreath-Making Social led by board member Carol St. Jacques Rodriguez. Thank you Carol for sharing your talents with us!
Here is JLLI Board member Carol St. Jacques meeting with Pastor Scott Williams and Isoken Irowa when she dropped off Thanksgiving Baskets to Christ’s First Presbyterian Church in Hempstead. All 125 of the food baskets were delivered to designated organizations so families had them in time for Thanksgiving!
