Dr. William Li to Speak on Intrinsic Health Defenses

Dr. William Li, MD, President and Medical Director of The Angiogenesis Foundation will be presenting during the Functional Foods and Chronic Diseases session at the upcoming FFC 26th International Conference and Expo.  This session held during the conference in San Diego, May 9-10, 2019 will address various topics in regards to chronic disease, including Dr. Li's presentation on the activation of intrinsic health defenses as a mechanism for food bioactives.

In this presentation, Dr. Li will discuss his proposal to utilize a systems-based approach for defining the health effects of functional foods and their bioactive components, based on intrinsic health responses.  The focus is on the five physiological health defense systems that enable the body to resist disease: angiogenesis, regeneration, micro biome, DNA protection, and immunity.  This research has great implications for using food to prevent and treat chronic disease such as cancer and offers practical prevention methods that anyone can use.

If you are interested in Dr. Li's presentation, please join us at the FFC 26th Conference. We invite you to attend our conference as a presenter, exhibitor, regular attendee, or guest*.

*Guest registration is for members of the public who are interested in attending the opening & closing sessions, as well as participating in our expo of functional food exhibitors (lunches & refreshments not included).

Dr. Li's Work in Disease Prevention

Dr. Li has had a successful career in researching and raising awareness about the use of functional foods and their bioactive compounds to prevent disease and improve overall health.  He has identified over 200 foods that could be used for the purpose of fighting disease and improving quality of life.  He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, held faculty appointments at various universities, authored a book entitled Eat to Beat Disease and is a TED Conference speaker.  His work focuses on eating the right diet in order to prevent and treat chronic illnesses such as cancer through antigenesis.  By eating foods that have antigenic bioactive compounds, the blood supply to tumors can be cut off, therefore decreasing or eliminating the growth of cancer in the body.  His research in identifying these foods and recommending the proper quantities in diets has the potential to have a significant impact on the overall health of the population, especially those battling cancer and other chronic illnesses.
