Provincial Finals Competition - Moose Jaw, May 30 to June 2, 2019

Emma Johnson (soprano) is the winner of the prestigious Sister Geraldine Boyle Gold Award for the most outstanding performance of the Senior Grand Awards Competition. The award of $1,000 was presented by Joy McFarlane-Burton on behalf of Joanne Messer, donor. The Wallis Silver Award was won by Jerry Hu (piano) and the Blanche Squires Memorial Bronze Award went to Shion Tamashiro (violin).

Nearly 350 participants from Saskatchewan's 47 District Music Festivals were heard by six judges. Choral entries were submitted by recording and judged prior to the weekend competition. On Friday evening, May 30, intermediate competitors chosen from each discipline competed in the Intermediate Grand Awards Competition. On Saturday evening, June 1, senior competitors chosen from each discipline competed in the Senior Grand Awards Competition. Prizes of over $25,000 were awarded over the weekend. Team Saskatchewan is off to Nationals!

On Sunday, June 2, five judges heard performances by fourteen young musicians aspiring to compete at the National Music Festival in Saskatoon. We are proud to announce the members of Team Saskatchewan who, along with Campbell Chamber Choir, will represent Saskatchewan at Nationals. Congratulations and best wishes to all!

Campbell Chamber Choir, Regina (Russ & Deidre Baird, conductors) successfully advanced from the Provincial Level of Nationals and will compete in the Paul J. Bourret Choral Competition, judged by recording.


FCMF National Music Festival, Saskatoon - August 8 to 10, 2019

The Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (FCMF) National Music Festival will take place on the University of Saskatchewan Campus in August. Saskatchewan is proud to host this prestigious competition and to welcome competitors, delegates and audience from across Canada. SMFA Fundraising Opportunities

Tickets are available until August 9, and the draw will take place at the Grand Awards Concert at Nationals on August 10. Tickets can be purchased at the National Music Festival, or by contacting the SMFA Provincial Office at 306-757-1722 or
