Our Chair Peter Muir spent some time in Northern BC earlier this month, visiting our friends in Taylor, Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Prince George, Fort St. James, McBride, Valemount, Fraser Lake, Houston, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof and Mackenzie!
It's hard to believe, but 2020, the 125th anniversary of curling in BC, is only 10 months away. As Curl BC begins to make plans for the celebration of this significant milestone, we would be very interested to hear what your club would like to see promoted and celebrated next year. For example:
How many years has curling been in your community?
Is your club planning to host any special events next year that could be incorporated into the 2020 celebrations?
Are there any special initiatives that you would like to see Curl BC incorporate into next year's festivities?
We are already off to a great start with the announcements that the 2020 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and the 2020 World Women's Curling Championship will be held in BC.
We hope your 2018-19 curling season has been a big success. Of course, we want to do our best to support those clubs that are having to undergo extensive upgrades to their plants to meet safety codes. One way in which you can help is to make a donation through the National Sport Trust Fund to clubs in need.
Please encourage others to make a contribution online as well to ensure that all BC curling clubs have a full season of curling in 2020! If your club would like to set up a fund, please do not hesitate to contact me.
