Call for Proposals

30 Years of the Genome:
 Integrating and Applying ELSI Research

Since its inception, research on the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) of genetics research and its translation aims to anticipate and illuminate emerging issues relevant to policy, practice and fundamental questions of what it means to be human. AI, gene editing and precision medicine are only the latest of the pressing issues that raise complex questions about utility, privacy, intellectual property, commercialization and identity requiring ELSI research.

The 5th ELSI Congress invites researchers, scholars, practitioners, policymakers, journalists, community members, and others to engage in a transdisciplinary dialogue on the integration and application of ELSI research.
Keynote and plenary session topics include:
  • Integrating ELSI and Genomics: Past, Present, and Future
  • CRISPR and Human Identity: Governing Germline Gene Editing
  • Ethical Frameworks for Research Collaboration with Indigenous Communities
  • Polygenic Risk Scores and Behavioral Traits: Interrogating the Science and Ethics
We welcome proposals for workshops, panels, papers, flash presentations and posters on topics across the expanding range of ELSI research.
Submission Guidelines

  • The submission deadline is Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 11:59 PM EST.
