Family Law Mediation: What are Effective Approaches?

For those of us who practice family law mediation there are many things we have learned about what works and what doesn’t work. This hour will be for us to share best practices. Though we may be trained in different modalities (transformative, facilitative, evaluative, etc.) we may have more in common than we are aware.
.
Facilitator Peter Bort earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1984. He also holds a Spiritual Counseling Degree from the University of Santa Monica, and has had a daily practice of mindfulness meditation since 1985.

Peter has been actively mediating since 1994, with thousands of families served. Having litigated family law cases for more than 30 years, Peter began shifting his practice toward exclusively mediation and collaborative approaches in 2010. He is actively involved in the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP), a community of legal, mental health and financial professionals working together to create client-centered processes for conflict resolution. For the past twelve years, Peter has been a member of Collaborative Law Professionals of Southeastern Pennsylvania, a team-based practice group of professionals who share a vision for balanced and lasting solutions for their clients. Peter has worked on more than 50 collaborative law matters.
