Hub South East's Success Showcased in its latest Annual Report

Hub South East has published its annual report for 2019/20 – its 10th year of operation – and with a programme value of more than £660m, Hub and its clients continue to successfully work together to provide enhanced local services and achieve tangible benefits for partners and communities in the Lothians and Borders.

Since 2010 Hub South East has completed 78 new or refurbished facilities, ranging from healthcare and supported accommodation, to educational and community facilities. During this 12-month reporting period from April 2019, the Hub team has worked on the completion of developments totalling £82m, the start of construction of new facilities valued at more than £80m and the project development of projects valued at almost £144m.

The latest Annual Report for the South East territory highlights the flexibility, innovation, value for money and social value delivered through its projects.

Work is progressing well on the new £1.5m state-of-the art Early Learning & Childcare centre in Blackridge - Scotland's first public Passivhaus Nursery

Passivhaus buildings are specially designed to provide users with enhanced thermal comfort with the use of virtually no energy for heating or cooling.

This is an exciting project in partnership with West Lothian Council, helping our client to meet progressive Scottish Government environmental targets, as well as helping influence next-generation design proposals for Scotland’s learning estate.

Fingers Crossed for next week's Partnerships Awards 2020!

Next week is the annual Partnerships Bulletin Partnerships Awards and we are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories. Hub South East has been nominated as Sponsor Developer of the Year (an award we scooped Gold for in 2018) and two of our projects are shortlisted in the Best Education category - Queensferry High School in Edinburgh (in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council and Morrison Construction) and the Jedburgh Grammar Campus (in partnership with Scottish Borders Council and BAM Construction). Best of luck to all entries!
South East Education Collaborative
Last month saw the first South East Education Collaborative meeting held online involving senior representatives from education and estates in local authorities across the South East Territory, as well as representatives from Hub South East and SFT.

This collaboration between partners was created after last year's successful Learning Conversation event organised by Hub South East, which highlighted a desire for co-operation and sharing best practice. The aim of the Collaborative is to invite reflection on future co-production, share learnings and disseminate best practice between public and private sector partners to inform a wider transformation agenda.

Chaired by Elaine Cook, Depute Chief Executive of West Lothian Council, the first meeting was a real success and we look forward to further engagement with clients across the Territory as we take forward actions from the session.
Good progress is being made on site delivering West Lothian Council's biggest investment in education - the £60.7m Winchburgh Schools project. This £60.7m project includes two high schools and one primary school and is the largest project currently under construction in the Hub programme. Our Charity Partner, Grassmarket Community Project, is appealing for donations this year to help some of the Capital's most vulnerable.
We're supporting this appeal and would encourage you to have a look and get involved by donating this Christmas. Check out the shop or make a donation for a loved one online.
