Thanks to our families for visiting us on the 17th for African American Family Involvement Day. Our talented students and Special Education Assistant, Shalah Jackson, prepared the delicious side dishes we enjoyed—thanks so much to them! And our BSU put on an amazing Showcase with the support of Beacons. Finally, all our Tommies turned out to support the Showcase, showing lots of love as audience members (and participants). What a great day!

Parents/Caregivers of 9th Grade Students,

Have you ever wondered how the pandemic may have affected your child’s academic development or if they have the foundational reading and math skills necessary to succeed in high school? Edison’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) team is busy supporting the academic success of all our 9th-grade students. We utilize a math and reading screening called the FAST in the fall, winter, and spring of the current school year to quickly assess each student’s math and reading skills and progress. Then math and reading interventionists work with classroom teachers to provide targeted support to students who may need additional teaching or strategies in identified areas. This support does not replace the quality instruction that occurs in each classroom, but rather supplements it. Targeted support is NOT special education, and it is designed to promote the success and learning of all our 9th-grade students. Progress monitoring will occur for students receiving this supplemental intervention. If extended or additional small group support is needed, we will contact parents/caregivers to team up to promote your student's learning and success. The MTSS team looks forward to contributing to a successful second semester for our 9th-grade students!

ACT Prep Options @ Edison

There are several opportunities for students to prepare for the ACT Exam. You can choose any of one of these options alone or sign up for a course and the practice exam. There will also be diagnostic and practice exams in the courses.

Join a self-directed, online course. Sign up with the QR code on this linked flier.

Join an in-person class at Edison. It will be every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in room 305. The class runs from February 23-April 20. Sign up for the course by filling out this linked form.

Take an online PRACTICE ACT exam on Wednesday, March 15 during school. Sign up by filling out this linked form.
