2+2 Transfer Pathways Update with Alyssa Steiner, Health Science Faculty
Cabrillo's Health Science and CSUMB's Collaborative Health and Human Services (CHHS) faculty and articulation staff have been collaborating this year to simplify the transfer process between our programs. Through this work, Cabrillo Health Science students will have a smoother academic transition into CSUMB's CHHS program. These discussions and the obvious current need for more well-trained public health officials have also inspired Cabrillo to pursue the development of a new public health class and major.  Once approved, we hope this Public Health AS-T degree will be available to interested students starting spring 2023! We're so excited for this opportunity to prepare students for an academic journey and eventual career in the vital and rewarding public health field. The 2+2 grant helped facilitate a wonderful "Platicas" conversation between faculty and our amazing students who have been part of both programs at Cabrillo and CSUMB and are clearly already on their way to making important contributions to improve the health in our community!

Cabrillo has partnered with the CA Chancellor's Office and CJ Juleff to develop a 15-part self-paced financial wellness course. Each module takes 10-15 minutes to complete. The course goes over topics ranging from the psychology of money, paying for college, career choice & income, managing your money, setting financial goals, and so much more. Students and staff can self-enroll at

Cabrillo 2+2 CSUMB Peer Mentor Highlight with Alessa Heredia-Guzman

Being a part of the 2+2 program has been a great, loving, and caring experience for me. The program wants its students to excel in their academics along with getting them involved in the school’s activities. During times like these where we are struggling through a pandemic with online courses, the program does its best to keep students updated with any information and guidance.  They've helped me plan out what courses I need to take in order to transfer on time and they always check up on me. Without their counsel, I would be very lost but I am so fortunate to be a part of a group that demonstrates how much they truly do care about me and my education.
