November 10 - November 16, 2019

This church is unique.  We allow everyone to be involved in volunteering for ministry.  We totally depend on the Holy Spirit to call us to the ministries that He wants us to do here in His church.  For me there is no more exciting time.  It is a time when the youngest to the oldest is included in the life of God’s church.  November 10, Commitment Sunday, is one of the biggest days in our church year.  We have all been given the opportunity to be as involved as we want.  My prayer is that all of us listen to the call God has on our life and respond to His will.  One of the most important things to remember is that you do not have to be a member to be involved in meaningful ministry here at FUMC.  If this congregation is feeding you spiritually, I know you will want to be involved.  It’s exciting to see all the people bring their commitment cards to the altar at the end of each service and we ask God to consecrate them for His glory.  I look forward to laying my commitment card, both my service and financial commitments, along with yours this Sunday, November 10.

We are drawing near the completion of our beautiful building addition and are filled with anticipation for the glorious ministry opportunities ahead.  As we approach this milestone, please remember to pray for the safety of our workers, for unity in our congregation, and for hearts overflowing with gratitude for all God is doing in our midst.   We will announce a “move in” date as soon as we know.

This Sunday is a special time to honor all our veterans, past and present, and offer our heartfelt thanks for their sacrifice and service.

Our Staff/Parish Relations Committee is happy to announce that Jonathan Demessie has accepted the position of Contemporary Worship Director beginning November 18, and his wife, Ali, has accepted the position of Nursery Coordinator.  The Demessies come to us from Georgetown, KY.  Many of you had an opportunity to meet them on October 13 as Jonathan led us in worship.  We look forward to welcoming them to our church family and serving alongside them as we continue to walk In His Steps.

In preparation for

November 17, please read the following scriptures:

Isaiah 65:17-25

Psalm 118

2 Thessalonians 3:6-13

Luke 21:5-19

This is Commitment Sunday! Bring your commitment cards to church.
XYZ needs at least one more person for their trip to Branson in December for the best prices. The trip is Dec. 9-11. Contact Lois good at 928-607-9194 for more information.

Golf cart shuttle service will continue throughout our building project to help get folks as close to our entrances as possible. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who are serving their church family in this much-needed way!
Our Wednesday Fellowship Meals are served every Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:00 PM in the Family Life Center.  Meals are $4 for adults, $2 for children.  No family pays more than $12.

Plan now to make this mealtime with your church family a part of every week.  You won’t find a better meal at a better price anywhere, and you can’t beat the friendly people you’ll meet!

FirstYouth is collecting gently used or new coats for kids of all ages. You may drop these off at the church office.

Thank you FUMC congregation for donating 46 pounds of groceries to CCC for the month of October.

I will be heading up Pastries for Peru now that Hannah Lehfeldt is off at college.  I experienced the first FUMC mission trip to Peru in June 2016 and fell in love with the Peruvian people and their heart for Jesus. I have been looking forward to going back and taking my younger brother and sister with me. I will be taking orders for cinnamon rolls on November 10th before and after the 9:35 service. Orders are a dozen for $20 and a half-dozen for $15.  Delivery will be on November 17.
 Thank you for your support,
Lynnlee Presley

Hello Church Family,
It is so exciting around here! We are getting close to being in our new worship area and have all of the furnishings for the Wiggle Worship Class piled in our office! We kicked off our Christmas program practice yesterday and it was great to see how quickly the kids were able to pick up on the songs. Thank you to Debbie Robus and Ali Sugg for being awesome leaders in this program! We gathered shirt sizes for those that attended yesterday. If your child was not there and would like to participate in the Christmas program, please text their shirt size to 501-691-0460. The deadline for ordering shirts is November 17th. If your child will not be participating in the program, please let us know before we order shirts. Information about the Little Ringers will be announced soon.
The deadline for turning in the Operation Christmas boxes is November 17th. There is a drop off box in the church office. We are so thankful for all of you who so willingly participated!
This Wednesday we continue in our series, BLAST OFF, where we are learning to launch our faith to new heights. This week’s lesson is about sharing God with others. In Sunday School, our Preschool & K classes will be praising God for his many blessings!
Commitment Sunday is November 10th! Please remember to turn in your commitment cards and sign up for ALL of the areas of children’s ministry! Ha-ha! Please help your child complete their commitment card as well. This is a great opportunity to lead by example.

Cleburne County DCFS is looking for sponsors for their "Foster Children Wishlist Program". There are approximately 56 children in our county that need sponsors for Christmas. This is much higher than the number from last year.  Each sponsor will receive a "wish list" of gifts the foster child would like to get for Christmas. The sponsor then purchases any or all of the desired gifts and delivers them to DCFS for distribution. Contact Johnelle Switzer at 501-362-3298 ext. 122 for more information.

This is a 4-week series on  identity.
How many times have you compared yourself with someone else today? Seriously — see if you can count. Whether it's their stuff, their looks, their skills, or their popularity, we can't help but notice all the things other people have, and how those things compare to all the things we wish we had. In this 4-week series, we're going to focus on four things that God has given to every single one of us. You have a past, you have today, you have a future, and you have a family. All four of these things make you valuable and uniquely you.

November 13
This week, we'll look at the story of the Exodus. Students see that they (like Moses) have a future that is in God's hands and their future is good.
THE BIG IDEA: You have a future.
THE BIBLE: Exodus 1-18; Numbers 21:4-9, John 3:14-15; Romans 8:28-30; I Peter 1:3-5.

Sunday School: 10:45 AM -12:00 PM gather in The Loft (youth rooms) at the top of the elevator. Middle School will meet in the Game Room and High School will meet in the Worship Room. All the the following follows the school calendar.

Impact Groups: Varies by age and gender.

Godpleasers Youth Choir: Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:00 PM  Starts in October and ends in June.

Wednesday Afternoon: Hang out time in The Loft after school until First Youth Wednesday starts.

First Youth Wednesday: Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:00 PM in The Loft. Middle School will start off in the Game Room. High School will start off in the Worship Room.

To my church,
Thank you for your walk with the Lord.  You all are and have been an inspiration to me and a wonderful Christian example.  FUMC to me is the body of Christ in motion.  You all reach out to community, state and the world to reach the least, last and lost.  I learned what it meant to be a Disciple and follower of Christ at FUMC.  Under the leadership of Brother Tommy and others, Bruce and Sherry Shearer, Connie Moody, Connie Master, etc.  I can't name all of them. I would run out of paper. When I was down such wonderful people brought me food and prayed for me at the hospital before surgery.  This church taught me how to serve for His Glory and what He wanted of me in His scripture.  You all taught me how to stay in the Word of God!  How to strive to live as Christ so that all may see Him in my speech, actions and how I treat others.  Thank you so much for being a huge stepping stone in my walk with God.  I have grown so much and as I continue to grow I will pray and give thanks for FUMC and all that helped me become who I am today.  Thank you to Pastor Tim Rushing.  He did a great wedding ceremony at such a short notice.  Thank you!
I will miss seeing you all but know you are in my heart.  I love you all!
Thank you!  May FUMC be blessed abundantly always,
Kim Treece (Cramer)
