Knee joint pain is a common health concern that bothers many people, as its expensive surgery cost puts a majority of patients off undergoing treatments. But experienced orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Sha Wai Leung recently played a part in charity by performing knee replacement surgery on a patient who is in her 60’s, helping her to regain mobility and independence. The patient was once a fisherwoman and sustained knee injuries around 8-9 years ago. Yet her knee health started to deteriorate in recent years.  Fortunately, she was referred to Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation and underwent surgery at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road sponsored by the Foundation. On 31 May, Dr. Sha Wai Leung performed a successful knee replacement surgery on the patient. With a new knee, the patient is now walking better and is on the road to recovery.

膝關節問題困擾許多人，但面對昂貴的手術費，不少人都會選舉忍痛不接受治療，骨科顧問醫生沙惠良最近為一位60多歲的女士成功進行「膝關節置換」手術，令她重拾行動力，重展生活的精彩。該位女士以捕魚為生，閒時喜歡參與教會活動及做義工，在八、九年前因工作關係導致雙膝勞損，在沒有選擇之下唯有退休。但近年來雙膝情況逐漸變差，行走時不但需要使用扶手杖，走得太久的話，雙腿會感到十分疲累，身體還會「痛到出汗」。幸運的是，早前她被轉介到港安醫院慈善基金，並獲得基金資助，於香港港安醫院—司徙拔道就醫，在5月31日，沙惠良醫生為她施行手術，成功置換膝關節。現時病人的術後情況良好，現已在康當中。

On May 23, our brand new Hybrid Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Operating Room was dedicated to the Glory of God and the service to humanity. The dedication was led by our chaplain. During the dedication, the chaplain reminded those who were present of the hospital’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ. Afterwards, he also shared some pertinent Bible verses. At the end of the dedication service, a special prayer for God’s blessings was offered. It is our hope that this new facility will help us continue to expand our mission and provide help to more people in need in the future.

在5月23日，我們把全新的混合心導管檢查及介入治療手術室奉獻給基督，願榮耀歸於神，以造福大眾。整個祝福儀式由我們的院牧帶領。在儀式當中，院牧提醒了眾人本院的使命宣言為延續基督的醫治大能，同時亦分享了相關的聖經經文。在儀式的結尾，眾人一同為手術室禱告，以感謝基督的恩賜。我們希望混合心導管檢查及介入治療手術室能繼續幫助更多有需要的人。

Following the award of ISO 22000 certification for food safety management systems in 2013, the Food and Dietetic Department of Hong Kong Adventist Hospital – Stubbs Road has obtained the certification once again in 2019. Being the first private hospital in Hong Kong to be awarded this certificate, we are proud to be able to upkeep the professional image of our Food and Dietetic Department. ISO 22000 is the most representative international standard in food safety, as it integrates the two leading international food safety standards, the Codex Alimentarius International Food Standards and the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
