Human papilloma virus, often abbreviated as HPV, is a major cause of cervical cancer. According to the World Health Organization’s data, Cervical Cancer ranks as the fourth cause of cancer related deaths among women. It is also the seventh most common cancer in Hong Kong, taking up 3.3% of new cancer cases in women.

Furthermore, inadequate knowledge of Cervical Cancer and its early-stage asymptomatic characteristics often lead to late diagnosis, which can greatly affect treatment outcomes.

In light of this, our hospital is organising a public series of free health talks on Cervical Cancer in January. Our experienced healthcare professionals will be there to share the most updated information about this disease. If you are interested, please:

人類乳頭狀瘤病毒，俗稱HPV病毒，是造成女性子宮頸癌的元兇。根據世界衛生組織資料，子宮頸癌是世界排行第四的女性癌症殺手。在香港位列於婦女常見癌症第七位，佔女性癌症新症總數的3.3%。

過往很多女性對子宮頸癌的認識不足，以及早期的癌症和不正常的細胞病變可能沒有任何症狀情況下，導致到癌症後期才發現，令治療效果不顯著。
