Skillathon Volunteers Needed - Sign Up Now (please) :)

We are excited to bring back our in-person Wayne County 4-H / FFA / Jr. Fair Skillathon event this year coming up on July 11th and July 12th at the Wayne County Fair Event Center.  We are in need of volunteers to assist with this event on both nights. We need approximately 80 volunteers each night to assist with various tasks.  

The schedule for both nights is:
•        Volunteer Check-In and Dinner will be available starting at 5:30 pm
•        A short briefing for volunteers will be held at 6 pm
•        Skillathon will run from 6:30 - 9:00 pm.

If you would be willing to help volunteer for one or both nights – please click the button below to sign up and indicate which night(s) you are available what your preference is for the volunteer role you would like to help with.

Project Judging Appointment Sign Ups Now Available

Again this year we are asking all youth that will be coming to Early Project Judging on July 7th or Late Project Judging on August 9th to sign up for a 15-minute time slot for your project judging interview.

Both events will be held at the Wayne County Fair Event Center from 6-9 pm.

To start this process look at your project book's front cover to find your project number.  Then click the button below to look up which judge number is judging your project and the type of judge (FCS or Still) that you will be judged by.

Help Wanted - Come Join Our Wayne County Extension Office Team!

Our office currently has two office support positions open.  Applications are due July 1st.  Applications must be submitted online.

Both positions come with full OSU benefits package including OPERS Retirement, healthcare, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as OSU tuition discounts for employee and dependents.

Pay scale for both positions will be in the $15-17 / hour range based on successful candidates qualifications and years or work experience.

Full Consideration will be given to applicants that submit a cover letter and resume with their online application. 

Office Assistant

Our Office Assistant position serves as the front desk receptionist to greet visitors to the office, answer calls, and assists staff with a variety of projects, social media, event registrations, database management and much more.

Office Associate

Our Office Associate position serves as our fiscal or financial support staff person.  Duties include preparing deposits and financial reports, writing checks, managing travel, working with OSU business office and much more.

2022 Horse Fun Shows Kickoff this Week Tuesday June 21st

After weather related cancellations for the past two weeks, we are hoping to kick off our series of Tuesday night Horse Fun Shows at 6 pm tonight in the Horse Arena.  The series alternates between pleasure and contest shows each week. Poultry, Dog, Sheep, and Swine Clinics taking place this week

This week will feature clinics full of information and resources for many of our livestock exhibitors.  Please see the list of dates, times, and notes below.
  • Poultry Clinic - Tuesday June 21st at 7 pm in the Goat / Sheep Arena at the fairgrounds
  • Dog Rally Clinic - Wednesday June 22nd at 7 pm in the Snyder Commercial Building at the fairgrounds (bring your dogs)
  • Sheep Clinic - Saturday June 25th at 9 am in the Goat / Sheep Arena at the fairgrounds.  Bring your Market Lambs to be weighed for the Rate of Gain Contest if you're interesting in competing.  Winner will be announced at the fair.
  • Swine Clinic - Saturday June 25th at 11 am in the Goat / Sheep Arena at the fairgrounds.

4-H Food and Fashion Board Invites You to Donate Craft Supplies for Children

The Wayne County Food and Fashion Board will be holding an Arts & Crafts Drive among Wayne County 4-H Clubs. Clubs are being asked to donate supplies (specific list provided below) to the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio. There will be an ice cream social provided for the 2 clubs with the highest number of donations.

All donations must be turned in at the July 6th Early Project Judging. The winning clubs will be announced at the Style Revue. Please have your clubs create a collection box for this event. Supplies must be labeled with your 4-H club’s name visible in order to be eligible for participation in the contest. All items must be new and in original packaging. Please start donating supplies and help your club receive an Ice Cream Social! Let the competition begin!


Supplies needed: White Cardstock (packs only, no loose), Colored Pencils (24 pk), Elmer’s glue sticks, Sidewalk Chalk, Crochet Hooks, Dry Erase Markers, Acrylic Paints, Gel Pens, Adult Color Books, Melty Beads, Stickers, Journals- cannot be spiral bound, Acrylic paint brushes, Scissors, Play-Doh, String and yarn, Rubber band loom kits. 


The Ice Cream Social will be awarded to 1 large club and 1 small club.

4-H and Junior Fair Animals / Livestock Requirements and Opportunities Mailing
