Livestream Camera Operator Volunteers Needed

In order to livestream all livestock shows at this year's fair, we will need volunteer camera operators. All equipment and training will be provided.  We are currently offering three-hour shifts, but you are free to sign up for multiple shifts if you wish.  You will receive a confirmation email following your sign up and we will be providing more instructions as fair time approaches.  Click the button below to sign up for a time slot!

Rabbit Tattooing - August 28

Tattooing will be available for all rabbits on August 28 from 9:00 AM to noon in the Fairgrounds Event Center. All market rabbits MUST be tattooed by the committee. If you have a pet or breeding rabbit, you are welcome to have someone else, such as the breeder, tattoo the rabbit for you. All rabbits must be tattooed to be able to exhibit at the fair.

Purchased market rabbits are REQUIRED to attend the August 28 tattoo date. If they do not attend, they cannot exhibit at the fair. The exhibitor does not have to be present, just the rabbits. You may only bring six purchased market rabbits to be tattooed. Bred, Born, and Raised rabbits are HIGHLY encouraged to attend the August 28th tattooing. There is no tattoo limit for BBR market rabbits

Poultry & Rabbit Help Needed

The poultry and rabbit committee is asking for help to set up pens in the fairgrounds Event Center on Saturday, August 28 beginning at 9:00 AM. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Building 10 Committee Work Day

The Building 10 Committee will be having a work day on Saturday, August 28 beginning at 9:00 AM to prepare the building for the fair. All help is welcome!

Sheep Carcass Contest

We want to say thank you to Boliantz Packing of Mansfield for hosting our 2021 Sheep Carcass Contest! The live show will take place at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 28th at 9 am in the Sheep Arena. Weigh-in will be from 8:00–8:45 AM. The viewing of the carcasses will be on Wednesday, September 1st at 6:00 p.m. at Boliantz Packing / Weidle's Meats facility located at 749 Springmill Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44903.. Beef Carcass Contest

The 2021 beef live carcass show will be held in the Coliseum on August 26. Check-in will begin at 6 pm and the show will start at 7 pm. The results show will be held at Heffelfinger Meats in Jeromesville on Monday, August 30 beginning at 6:00 PM.

Online DUNF Due September 8

Again this year, all Drug Use Notification Forms (DUNF) will be completed electronically.  Please fill out the electronic DUNF before Wednesday, September 8th at 5:00pm. You will receive a confirmation email with the details of your DUNF after it is submitted. If any information on the DUNF form changes between the time the form was submitted and fair check-in, the committee will ask you to complete a new DUNF at check-in. If nothing has changed you may proceed to the next step in the check-in line. Please use your entire animal ID/scrapie ID.  DUNF forms are required by the Ohio Department of Agriculture for all market animals, lactating dairy cows, and lactating dairy goats.  Click the button below to access the electronic DUNF.

Ractopamine Affidavit Due September 8

Again this year, we will be using electronic ractopamine affidavits for all swine projects. Please fill out the electronic affidavit before Wednesday, September 8th at 5:00pm. You will receive a confirmation email after it is submitted. You will not be permitted to unload your swine project until the form is completed. Click the button below to access the online affidavit.

Excellence in 4-H Award Nominations

Do you have an outstanding youth in your club that you would like to recognize? We are asking 4-H advisors to nominate outstanding members who are 17 years and older last year 4-H members for the Excellence in 4-H Award. This is our most prestigious award given to a youth at the county level. A member should be active in local 4-H activities and demonstrated leadership abilities at the club and county levels. Please return the nomination form to the Extension Office no later than September 1, 2021. Nominees will be sent applications to fill out and those who return them will be interviewed by a selection committee. The winners will be announced at the 4-H Recognition Banquet in November. Fair Overnight Permission Form Due September 1

Staying overnight in the barns during the Wayne County Fair is STRONGLY discouraged. However, if a member MUST stay, then complete the form and turn it in to the Junior Fair Office by September 1st. Click the button below to download the permission form.

Fair Pass/Show Number Pickup

Show numbers, wristbands, and vehicle passes will be available for pickup on the following dates at the Junior Fair office:
Tuesday, August 31 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Thursday, Sept 2 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Friday, Sept. 10 9:00 am - 9:00 pm
An advisor or designated adult should pick up and sign for fair passes and show numbers for the entire club. NO TICKETS OR SHOW NUMBERS WILL BE MAILED OR HANDED OUT INDIVIDUALLY BY THE JUNIOR FAIR OFFICE!

Junior Fair Baking Contest

Entries are now being accepted for the 2021 Wayne County Junior Fair Baking Contest! The contest is open to all Wayne County youth ages 8 - 18.  Prizes will be awarded!  Click the button below for  the rules and entry form. All entries are due at 4:30 PM on September 10th. All baked goods will be auctioned and proceeds will be used to help fund various 4-H activities throughout the year.

Please note that once again, custom processing reservations must be made in advance if buyers wish to receive the meat from the animal they purchase. Reservations must be made by September 1.  No additional options of custom processing are guaranteed to be offered at the time of the fair. Buyer's Letters for Market

Why should you write a buyer's letter?  A buyer’s letter is a letter that a 4-H member sends out to potential buyers before the fair to tell them a little about themselves and their animal, and to invite them to the fair and livestock auction. It is your responsibility to help get new and returning buyers to come to the livestock sales. Some people come to the fair every year and buy one or more animals, but without new buyers, a time may come where there aren’t enough buyers to purchase all the animals.  New buyers or returning buyers that are happy with the letters they have received are more likely to come to the fair and pay the premium prices we all enjoy receiving for our animals. Buyers pay far more than the market value of the animals we sell and it is up to the individual exhibitor to encourage as many potential buyers as possible to come to the  fair and bid on their animals. Many buyers have told us that they love personal letters from the 4-H and FFA members.

Bikes For Kids

Is Wayne County 4-H up for a challenge? The Wayne County 4-H Advisory Committee once again sponsoring the “Bikes for Kids” service project and is challenging each 4-H club to raise or donate enough money to purchase at least one bike (approximate cost $75.00). All bikes purchased are donated to Wayne County Children’s Services, Salvation Army, and People to People Ministries Christmas programs for needy kids in our community. Bikes will be assembled by the Junior Leaders and Senior Fair Board in December. Donations must be turned in to the Extension Office by October 1.
