4-HOnline Enrollment Due April 1st


All youth and volunteers participating in 4-H must complete their annual enrollment in 4-HOnline by 11:59 pm on April 1st.  The site is now open and live, many people have already completed their 2023 enrollment - if you have not completed yours for this year - take a few minutes to do so now.  For youth - be sure to know which projects you want to take this year when you start your enrollment.  If you have any questions or need help with completing your enrollment - be sure to visit our 4-HOnline help page or contact your club advisor or the Extension Office.

Also, a reminder for club organizational advisors that activity fees and activity fee forms for all members and cloverbuds must be turned into the Extension Office by April 1st (Monday April 3rd since April 1 falls on a Saturday this year).

Wayne County 4-H College Scholarships Application Due April 1st


Graduating seniors or currently enrolled college students are encouraged to apply for our various Wayne County 4-H College Scholarships.  Last year 11 youth were awarded more than $7,000 in Wayne County 4-H College Scholarships.  Click the buttons below for more information and to access the application.

Jr. Fair Board / Jr. Leaders Meeting on April 3rd to feature Etiquette Dinner and Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit


Our April 3rd Junior Fair Board and Junior Leaders meeting will be combined and will run from 6-8:30 pm at the Fisher Auditorium.  Marlene Eick will lead the groups through an Etiquette Dinner and Reception where the teens will learn about proper etiquette for banquets, receptions, and other special events that can be very helpful in a variety of business and social situations.  Following the Etiquette Dinner we will have a special presentation from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit.

Dairy Bus Trip to World Dairy Expo Survey Due April 15th


The Wayne County 4-H / FFA Dairy Committee is considering organizing a bus trip to World Dairy Expo and other dairy related sites for Fall 2023.  If you are interested in participating please complete a short survey to give the Dairy Committee input on which of the three options they are considering would be of most interest to you!  Click the button below to complete the survey.

2023 DairyPalooza Clinic and Quality Assurance April 22nd - register now,
pre-registrations due April 5th.


The Wayne County 4-H and FFA Dairy Committee will cover the cost of pre-registration fees for Wayne County Dairy Youth that attend the 2023 DairyPalooza statewide clinic and quality assurance event coming up on April 22nd in the Coliseum at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.  Click the button below for more information and to register now.

Beef Clinic to be held Sunday April 23rd
Noon - 4 pm in the Coliseum


Attention Beef and Dairy Beef youth - please join the Beef Committee for this year's Beef Clinic coming up on Sunday April 23rd from noon - 4 pm in the Coliseum at the Wayne County Fairgrounds.  Lunch will be provided - but everyone attending must RSVP by April 17th so we can get a count for how much food to serve.  There will be many topics covered as well as a Quality Assurance session offered.  Please click the button below to rsvp if you plan to attend.

2023 Livestock Clinics and Quality Assurance Dates


For 2023 - most of our livestock clinics will offer Quality Assurance training.  Please review the list of dates below for this year's options for completing Quality Assurance and click the button below to rsvp for which date you plan to attend.  Note there will only be one general QA session offered this year on May 9th at Fisher Auditorium.  Parents are also welcome and encouraged to attend this session for some project and fair updates from 4-H Educator Doug Foxx.

Horse youth must attend the May 8th session in person or complete an online course called EquiStep - this is a new requirement by the State 4-H Office starting this year.  Exhibitors taking dog projects should attend the May 17th Dog Clinic / Informational Meeting.

Swine and Feeder Calf Tags Now Available


Breeders and/or exhibitors families may stop in and pick up Swine Tags and/or Feeder Calf Tags at the Wayne County Extension Office during regular business hours Monday through Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm.  All market hogs and feeder calves must be tagged and information entered in 4-HOnline Animals Section by 11:59 pm on June 1st.  Taggers are also available to be checked out but must be returned to the Extension Office within 3-business days.

4-H Camp - Registration Opens May 1


Save the Date for this year's Ashland-Wayne County 4-H Camp will be held June 30th - July 3rd at 4-H Camp Ohio (note counselors and staff arrive on June 29th).  The counselors have started their training and planning and have selected "Party in the USA" for this year's camp theme!  So come prepared for lots of fun.  Registration will open on May 1st.  More information and link to register will be live on our Extension Office website camp page available by clicking the button below on May 1.

Cloverbud Day Camp and Beginner Sewing Camp Registrations will also open on May 1st.  Cloverbud Day Camp and Beginner Sewing Camp will both be held June 6-8 at Fisher auditorium.  Watch for more details in upcoming News and Notes emails.

Statewide Livestock Exhibition Rules Published

 
The Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio FFA,  and OSU Extension State 4-H Office recently compiled and published an updated listing of Statewide Livestock Exhibition Rules.  All 4-H and FFA families are encouraged to read over these rules and be familiar with them.  While many of these rules are not new - they have existed for many years but this document pulls many of them together into a central place.  Please click the button below to read a PDF of the rules and contact the Extension Office if you have any questions.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the evening of August 23rd from 6-8 pm for Turkey Blood Testing if you're planning on exhibiting at Turkey at this year's fair.  Testing will take place in the Goat / Sheep Arena at the Fairgrounds.
