The next full moon will occur on

September 14th, 2019
and will be a Full Harvest Moon

September 14, 2019, Sonoma will experience
its yearly
“Harvest Moon.”

A fun fact; the “Harvest Moon” was called
“Full Corn Moon” by Native Americans
and signaled the time to harvest the corn

Every full moon has a name, depending on
when it occurs during the year.

For instance, the
“Harvest Moon,” is the closest full moon,
to the
autumn equinox,
which occurs on September 23, 2019.

For those of us in the vineyards, it is a special full moon,
because it represents the time of year
we have all been waiting for...
“The Crush” (Harvest).

The full moon is especially welcome during our night picks,
as it creates more
natural light than normal.

How is the “Vintage 2019” harvest going?

Our harvest season has been the same as this year’s growing season, slow but steady.

The cool
Autumn Nights, have allowed many winemakers,
to let the fruit hang longer, adding the
unique flavors
we all appreciate from our Sonoma wines.

This year is becoming a text book growing season.

Right now, with few exceptions,
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are being picked.

Most of us will be done picking the
Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs in the next two weeks and be moving into the Zinfandels, Merlots, Syrah’s.

Some of the later red varieties like
Cabernet Sauvignon,
may need to hang around for a while to sugar up.

This term is used to describe the balance between the
natural sugar and PH balance of a wine grape.

Most wines have a harvest target for sugar that will be converted to alcohol (Brix).

“Crush 2019,” Harvest,
will continue until the middle of October.

The bulk of the vineyards will be harvested
over the next
five or six weeks.

Our hope is, to be completed by Halloween, and all indicators point to this coming true.

Only time will tell, but the warm dry Autumn
Indian Summer
, that we are experiencing,
(thanks to Mother Nature), has been great!

Happy Harvest!!

“Olive Sonoma”

Arbequina Olive Oil,
just so happens to be David Cook’s and my favorite.

Won a  Gold AWARD  at the

2019 World Olive Oil Competition

“Olive Sonoma” Arbequina, is a well-balanced olive oil,
with tasting sensations of Almond, Celery, Chamomile and Black Pepper

Arbequina goes well drizzled over meats to bring out their intense flavors.
It’s also great in pesto (I use it in mine) and salad dressings.

Interesting fact:  A customer recommends using Arbequina for baking.  She told me that she substitutes it for butter and used it in her Brownie Recipe!

Normally $16.00 a bottle
Now On Sale for $14.00 a bottle.

And if you purchase a bottle of Arbequina,
buy any other varietal for $14.00 a bottle
