Cook Vineyard Management    Newsletter

As the Holidays are upon us,
it is a great time to reflect
on all that is
special in our life.

We here at
CVM/Cook's Mercantile,
hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This is the time of year we celebrate
family, friends, good health & prosperity;

and don't forget...

great food and wine to share with those we love.

What makes Sonoma Wines so Great?

Most of us have heard the saying;
You can make a bad wine from great grapes,
but you can’t make
an exceptional wine from bad grapes”.

This is so true.

One thing that makes our wine industry in
Sonoma so special and unique,
is that we nurture our main ingredient... the grape.

From the beginning of the growing season,
to the final product, it is a team effort!

It takes collaboration, between the winemaker
and the vineyard personnel
to grow the perfect wine-grape.

Making hand crafted wine is more than an industry,
it is an art.

Sonoma County vineyards range from
the flats of the valley
to the higher elevations of the Mayacamas Range
and Sonoma Mountain.

Most people just see the vineyards when
they visit wine country,
but what makes us special is each individual vineyard.

Each vineyard has its own terroir
which produces unique flavors that are
captured in the final product...
the glass of wine.

Sonoma grows many different wine varieties,
at a high-quality level.

Most of the production is from the “Big 7,”

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Some of the other varieties grown in Sonoma are
Pinot Gris, Cabernet Franc, Cincault, Gewurztraminer, Mouvedre, Grenache, Sangiovese, Roussanne, Marsanne, Petite Verdot, Malbec and Semillion.

Sonoma has reached international fame,
by growing and producing some of
the finest wines in the world.

So when asked the question;
"Why are Sonoma’s wines so great?"

The answer is, “We start with the perfect grapes.”

Quote of the Week:

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”

“Olive Sonoma”

Arbequina Olive Oil,
just so happens to be David Cook’s and my favorite.

Won a  Gold AWARD  at the

2019 World Olive Oil Competition

“Olive Sonoma” Arbequina, is a well-balanced olive oil,
with tasting sensations of Almond, Celery, Chamomile and Black Pepper

Arbequina goes well drizzled over meats to bring out their intense flavors.
It’s also great in pesto (I use it in mine) and salad dressings.

Interesting fact:  A customer recommends using Arbequina for baking.  She told me that she substitutes it for butter and used it in her Brownie Recipe!
