Welcome to the Autumn Equinox

September 22, 2019

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We experienced our “Harvest Moon” last week,
and
Fall officially begins on September 22nd, 2019
when we welcome the
Autumn Equinox.
We are still picking some of our earlier ripening varieties like Chardonnay & Pinot Noir.
All Summer, "Vintage 2019" has been on a
slow road to success, however, in the last few weeks,
the sprint to the finish has begun.
The hotter days have helped us catch up to where we were last year at this time, and in some cases, even a bit earlier.
How is the harvest going in Sonoma?
            Our harvest is in full-swing, and by tasting
             the
high-quality fruit, one could surmise,
     that this has been one of our
best seasons to date.
It is hard to compare vintages, year to year because some varieties do better than others depending,
on
weather events throughout the season.
              It is still to early to tell, but by all indicators,
                         “Vintage 2019”  tonnage,
               will be less than the past few years.
Quantity versus quality, will prove that we have a great
vintage year; and perhaps the "claim to fame" for this vintage,
is that it was
perfect for all the different grape varieties
.
Ending Harvest 2019 with an “Indian Summer”
(warm and dry Autumn) will help us to catch up from
the
slow Spring start and progress
throughout the rest of this
season.
Our harvest will continue through mid to late October,
which will be two weeks later than last year.
With great weather predicted,
this may be the perfect "non-storm."
Quote of the Week:
"Youth is like spring, an over praised season more remarkable for biting winds than genial breezes.
Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits."
  ~ Samuel Butler
“Olive Sonoma”
Arbequina Olive Oil,
just so happens to be David Cook’s and my favorite.
AND
Won a  Gold AWARD  at the
2019 World Olive Oil Competition
“Olive Sonoma” Arbequina, is a well-balanced olive oil,
with tasting sensations of Almond, Celery, Chamomile and Black Pepper
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Arbequina goes well drizzled over meats to bring out their intense flavors.
It’s also great in pesto (I use it in mine) and salad dressings.

Interesting fact:  A customer recommends using Arbequina for baking.  She told me that she substitutes it for butter and used it in her Brownie Recipe!

Normally $16.00 a bottle

Now On Sale for $14.00 a bottle.

And if you purchase a bottle of Arbequina,
buy any other varietal for $14.00 a bottle
