Reminder: Quarterly Congregational Meeting following worship!
Dear friends in Christ,
It's been a busy week of "reentry" after returning from an out-of-town wedding last weekend, so I'm a bit later than usual in sending out this email. Yet even as I apologize for the delay in getting the worship bulletin in to your hands, I also realize that the delay has had the benefit of allowing time for the seed of an idea to be planted. It's a seed that holds the potential for bearing much fruit, as you and I, the members and friends of Zoar, intentionally make time and space over the coming months to listen to each other and discern the visionary leading of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
This seed of an idea was planted following yesterday's memorial service for Steve Wintermantel, when Council President JoAnn Rothi and I were talking about one of the agenda items for Zoar's Quarterly Congregational Meeting tomorrow. JoAnn is planning to ask for a group of volunteers to help facilitate a wide-ranging conversation among Zoar's members, friends, and ministry partners. So, she raised the question about what to call the team that will facilitate this conversation. She commented, "It doesn't seem quite right to call it the 'Building Committee' because this group isn't actually charged with building anything...." I said, "How about calling it the 'Visioning Committee?' That fits with what we're trying to do, as we share our hopes and dreams for Zoar's future mission and ministry, while taking into account the needs of our neighbors. Also, the word 'vision' is biblical!" JoAnn replied, "'Visioning.' I like that!"
I hope this little teaser has piqued your curiosity and inspired you to join us at 10:30 am tomorrow for worship and for our congregational meeting, immediately following worship. We value and need everyone's perspective and participation. So, come and join us as we begin visioning and discerning the future into which God is calling our congregation! You can join us in person or online (link below).
Grace and peace,
Pastor Michelle Manicke
