Zoar Sewing Circle Summer 2022 Update

Dear Sewing Circle Members and the Wonderful Congregation Who Supports Us,

Thank you to everyone for working so hard the last few months to get our Spring donation ready. We have had a lot of setbacks – illness, deaths of family members, and COVID exposures – but through it all we have held our little group together and even welcomed new members. As we go into the summer months, we will hold fewer in person sessions to allow for varied summer schedules. We will meet in the room through June and then take a break until September. Our potluck and spring donation is on Monday, June 6 at 12 noon. Please note the change of day.

Wednesday, June 1, 9am-12pm – Tying quilts in the Sewing Room
Monday, June 6, 12 noon – Potluck with DHS/Children’s Services. Please RSVP with Jennifer Benz
Wednesday, June 8 – No meeting today!
Wednesday, June 15, 9am-12pm – Tying quilts in the Sewing Room
Wednesday, June 22, 9am-12pm – Tying quilts in the Sewing Room
Wednesday, June 29, 9am-12pm – Tying quilts in the Sewing Room
July 1 – August 31 – Summer Break
September 7 – Start of fall tying sessions. Time TBD.

If you would like a project to work on at home over the summer, we have quilt top kits and middles that need to be assembled. Middles generally only need one or two seams sewn. We can also show you how to make a crazy quilt square to use up some of our scrap pieces. If you need any supplies, please contact Jennifer Benz, 503-263-6453, or Karen Brennan, 971-409-3495.

Sewing Circle Potluck Luncheon is scheduled for MONDAY, June 6th at noon. All are welcome to join us and representatives from Clackamas County DHS Children Services for food, fellowship and QUILTS as we present our donation. Please sign up with Jennifer Benz (503)263-6453 so we have enough food. Hope to see you there!

WORSHIP AND GRADS AND PIE...OH MY!

Sunday, June 12 promises to be a full day of celebration at Zoar, as we bless our college graduates during worship, eat lunch together afterward (thank you, Zoar Lutheran Church Women!), and then engage in some good-natured bidding wars over pie!

Proceeds from the pie auction will be donated to Lutheran organizations working to care for and resettle refugees abroad and in the United States.
