LAST CHANCE TO VISIT REDHILLS BEFORE RESTORATION AND RENEWAL
|

A Christmas concert will provide the last chance to visit Redhills before it closes for a major programme of restoration and renewal.
The public are invited into the historic hall for a festive performance from the Durham Miners Association Brass Band on Saturday 4 December.
Following the concert, Redhills will close so it can be fully restored and renewed as a centre for heritage, culture and education.
The band will perform a series of Christmas favourites, and will be accompanied by soloist Lily Banev, who sings with the Durham Cathedral choir. The Redhills team will also provide updates on the project, and provide a look at the future of the Miners Hall.

The concert will begin at 7pm on Saturday 4 December with doors opening at 6.30pm. Mince pies and hot drinks will be served in the Committee Room.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, this is a limited capacity event and Covid mitigations will be in place.
Tickets priced £5 are on sale now.

PLANNING PERMISSION SECURED

We are also pleased to let you know that the restoration and renewal of Redhills has been granted planning permission.
Durham County Council has backed the proposals to secure the future of the hall. The project will meet a series of conditions to ensure the invaluable heritage of the hall is protected and that the development is sympathetic to the local environment.
The decision was welcomed by Chris McDonald, Chair of the new Redhills charity created to steward the Miners Hall on behalf of the public.
Chris said: “This is a very important step forward. Our thanks go to the officers at Durham County Council who have been working with us through the planning process. Our vision for Redhills will ensure a bright future for the historic home of the Durham miners.”

Redhills will be back, greater than ever, in Spring 2023. We hope you will be able to join us on December 4 to say 'farewell' (for now) to the wonderful Durham Miners Hall.
Our thanks as always for your support.
The past we inherit; the future we build.
