Welcome to the October BHee news
We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable summer and are keen to develop your eco-work this year.  Autumn is a great time to maintain and develop your school grounds.  Check out our Wildlife Gardening advice to help you with this task.
Katie and Kerry
Congratulations to Dorothy Stringer on achieving their 8th Green Flag!!!
Eco-Schools have made recent changes to the award, including a new 'marine' themed topic and a revised Seven Step Process, allowing schools to achieve their first green flag in one year.  Visit the Eco-School website for more details.
Plastic Free Schools
Reducing Single Use Plastics (SUPs) in school will help with the Waste, Litter and Marine topics of the Eco-Schools award.
  • We are currently looking at how we can best support schools reducing SUPs (especially plastic bottles) for health and environmental benefits.  Please do help us take your views into consideration by completing the following quick survey.
  • For more information on becoming a Plastic Free School, visit the website.
Workshops & Outdoor Learning
  • We are currently taking bookings for Spring / Summer 2019 biodiversity and waste workshops.
  • Learn about the principles Reduce, Repair, Reuse, Recycle using a bicycle to demonstrate the principles - book a free 'Cycle Recycle' workshop by contacting Katie or Bike-it Lucy.
  • Find out about how a BHee bird feeding project with local schools affected the variety of birdlife visiting the school grounds and also enhanced children's attitudes toward wildlife.
