Artists Needed for the Knysna In Bloom Pots

Knysna in Bloom was started in 2015 by Stella Sohn.  The beautifully planted pots are dotted along the N2 in central Knysna.  They have had a few paint makeovers through the years with Stella constantly replanting and tending to them.

As part of the Knysna Art Project, Knysna artists are being invited to enhance selected pots in a “Naturally Knysna” theme.  Taking inspiration from Knysna´s natural flora and fauna; Life in the lagoon, forest scenes, aloes and fynbos, the possibilities are endless. The pots will be displayed in pairs once complete, the first two have been placed at the Visit Knysna entrance on the N2..

We will start with 6 flower pots at the Old Gaol, the flower pots will be delivered later this week.  They will need to be completed at the Old Gaol between 14 - 21 June 2021. Thereafter the next 6 pots will be ready for their makeover.

If you would like to be involved, let us know and try work on a pair of pots with a friend.

Start planning your pot and send us a photo of your composition plan, including colours and medium you will be using.  The pots are approximately 60cm tall and more than 50cm in diameter and will have a smooth surface.

Once painted, the pots will have to be sealed to make cleaning them fairly regularly possible, so bear this in mind when planning your pot.

The next KAS members outing will be a visit to Faith duPlessis Studio in Knysna from 3pm on 1 July 2021.
