August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month

World Breastfeeding Awareness Week is observed August 1-7 and August is recognized as Breastfeeding Awareness Month in the US!

Breastfeeding can supply babies with important antibodies to fight off infection and the expert consensus is that the overall health benefits of breastfeeding outweigh any potential risk of exposure to GBS. However, mothers frequently ask if it is safe to breastfeed if GBS positive.

ICGBS 2022: Community Week

Thank you to the 450 registrants from 61 countries who joined us for ICGBS 2022: Community Week this past July 11-15! We are honored that Dr. Ajoke Sobanjo-ter Meulen was our Keynote Speaker presenting on Gender equity in health innovation: GBS maternal immunization updates.

We would like to extend our utmost appreciation to our amazing presenters, the GBS parents who shared their experiences, the individuals and organizations who shared their advocacy efforts, and our sponsors whose participation made this conference possible!

Missed ICGBS 2022? The presentations from ICGBS 2022 are now available for viewing although the commenting forum has been closed. We welcome you to watch and learn from them as well as the presentations from our other past online conferences.

The WAVES Study

We are working to identify gaps in care and communication surrounding GBS disease. To do this we need your help! We are asking both mothers who have had a baby infected with GBS and those who have not to share their experiences in this survey if they have conceived on or after January 1, 2003.

Please share the link gbs-intl.org/waves with your contacts and social media. Together we can wave goodbye to GBS disease!
