Looking back at October

The 1st Annual Virtual Symposium on Prenatal-onset Group B Strep Disease concluded after 10 days of engaging presentations and discussions!

From 15-25 October 2018, GBS researchers and health professionals presented on various aspects of prenatal-onset GBS disease prevention and research in a variety of video and poster presentations. It included topics such as POGBSD and related preterm birth risk identification and management, opportunities for implementing prevention strategies, and pathology testing and inclusion of results in surveillance data. While the symposium has concluded, presentations can still be viewed and CME credit can be earned by visiting our website HERE.
October as Prenatal-onset GBS Disease (POGBSD) Recognition Month
There are three types of GBS disease, but prenatal-onset is often overlooked, not recognizing the thousands of babies who are miscarried, stillborn, or born very sick each year due to GBS infection in the womb. This past October we promoted POGBSD recognition giving more parents and health care professionals the opportunity to partner to help protect unborn babies.
2018 CAM Conference
GBSI exhibited and presented at the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) Conference October 17-19, 2018 in Gatineau, QC. The event hosted over 300 perinatal care professionals giving GBSI the opportunity to share GBS information in both French and English!
