January 23 is Maternal Health Awareness Day!

Did you know that GBS is a frequent cause of maternal health issues? These issues include urinary tract infection, intra-amniotic infection, endometritis, post C-section wound infection, and bacteremia.

Let's make sure that our GBS community is doing all we can to be aware of and improve maternal health!

February is International Prenatal Infection Prevention Month

A prenatal infection is an invasive growth of germs in the body that can affect the health of the pregnancy, the pregnant mother, and the baby after birth. Our goal every February is to educate people on how to help prevent the many types of prenatal infections year-round.

Group B strep is an often unrecognized cause of prenatal infection. Check out our knowledge-based strategies which may help prevent some GBS infections before birth. Other common causes of prenatal infection include cytomegalovirus (CMV), listeria, and the Zika virus, each with their own prevention strategies.

The WAVES Study

We are working to identify gaps in care and communication surrounding GBS disease. To do this we need your help! We are asking both mothers who have had a baby infected with GBS and those who have not to share their experiences in this survey if they have conceived on or after January 1, 2003.
