June 2018
Our #starttheGBSconversation campaign
This June, we are kicking off our #starttheGBSconversation campaign! This campaign was inspired by Molly, a GBS mom, who encourages everyone to find their own way to spread the message about GBS. The goal of our #starttheGBSconversation campaign is to simply get people talking about GBS. Some people struggle with how to get involved, but it doesn't have to be a large scale initiative. A simple conversation can have a big impact!
Check out our campaign page to find out how you, too, can #starttheGBSconversation!

Where We've Already Been in 2018
International Symposium on
Streptococcus agalactiae Disease (ISSAD)
GBS experts and interested stakeholders from around the world gathered to exchange ideas aimed at progressing towards a GBS-disease-free population. Group B Strep International presented nine posters on a variety of GBS topics ranging from identifying parallel paths needed to maximize group B strep (GBS) disease prevention for all babies from a parent’s perspective to alerting pregnant women to the lack of proven efficacy of alternative treatments.

GBSI board members - Dr. James A. McGregor, Dr. David M. Aronoff and GBSI Cofounder Marti Perhach at the 1st International Symposium on Streptococcus agalactiae Disease held February 20-23 in Cape Town, South Africa.
63rd Annual ACNM Conference

Special thanks to GBS moms, Bevin Tomlin and Erica Speegle, who represented GBSI at the American College of Nurse-Midwives 63rd Annual Meeting & Exhibition held May 20-24 in Savannah, GA.
Along with Donna Keene, Bevin’s mom, they gave out packets of our complimentary GBS awareness materials and discussed the importance of culturing urine for GBS as well the lack of efficacy and risks involved with alternative treatments and membrane stripping with many of the nurse-midwives who attended!
2018 International Conference on
Stillbirth, SIDS and Baby Survival
GBSI board member, Dr. James A. McGregor gave four talks and presented two posters at the 2018 International Conference on Stillbirth, SIDS and Baby Survival held in Glasgow, UK from June 7-9! This conference brought together passionate and knowledgeable perinatal health care providers and parents from over 24 countries in the world to work collaboratively to find out why babies die and find out what innovations can be implemented around the world to help babies be born and stay healthy
