First Virtual Haddenham Parish Council Meeting

The first ever virtual meeting of Haddenham Parish Council took place via zoom on Monday 8th June 2020. Although there were some pre-meeting nerves about holding an online meeting, we are pleased to say everyone rose to the challenge and it was a big success! The meeting was well attended with 10 Parish Councillors, 3 Buckinghamshire Councillors, 5 members of the public and the Clerks to the Parish Council being present.

At the meeting, Councillors agreed to resume the usual meeting schedule, just virtually! Meetings of the Parish Council and its committees will now return to being held every three weeks on a Monday evening. The schedule of meetings can be seen on the Parish Council's website. Those wishing to attend meetings can find instructions on how to do so on the agenda for the meetings. Agendas are available on the website 5 days before the meeting.

Previously, Local Councils have not been permitted to hold meetings remotely, however, in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Government passed new legislation to permit remote meetings. The Local Authorities and Police and Crime Panels (Coronavirus) (Flexibility of Local Authority and Police and Crime Panel Meetings) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020, permits meetings to be held remotely until 7 May 2021.

Mini-Tennis Courts Painting Completed

The new mini-tennis courts have received their finishing touches and are ready for a summer of socially-distanced play! Following the completion of the project to install the two mini-courts and improve the adjacent car park earlier this year, better weather was needed before the painting could be carried out. This has now been completed and it is hoped that the new mini-courts will provide a space for both younger and older players to enjoy a game without having to cover quite so much ground!

An official opening of the courts was planned for 6th June 2020 but unfortunately this could not go ahead due to the coronavirus restrictions in place. This will be arranged for a later date.

Haddenham Library to Re-open

Haddenham Community Library is due to re-open on Tuesday 7th July. Initially, the library will be open to customers on Tuesdays and Fridays between 10.00am and 1.00 pm for the return and loan of books. It will be a phased re-opening and customers can expect social distancing, hygiene measures and limited access to be in place. Up-to-date details about opening hours and services on offer can be found on the library's website. Those with books currently on loan don't need to worry about rushing back on opening day, however, as fines will not be charged.
In the meantime, why not check out the online resources available to library members through Buckinghamshire Council's website, including a wide range of e-books and e-audio books.

Playgrounds to Re-open Following Risk Assessment

Following on from the Government's announcement last week about the further relaxation of lockdown, playgrounds are permitted to re-open from 4th July once COVID-19 risk assessments have been carried out and appropriate safety measures put in place. Haddenham Parish Council is currently working hard to ensure that all playgrounds will be safe for residents to use and will re-open it's playgrounds as soon as it is safely able to do so, but this is likely to take a little longer. We understand that many residents will be eager to return to the playgrounds and we look forward to welcoming residents back as soon as we can, but safety is our priority.
Road Works Scheduled

Work is also scheduled to be carried out on Haddenham Road (Kingsey) and Risborough Road (Aston Sandford).
