Remembrance Sunday 2020
Due to the national lockdown, attendance at the Haddenham Act of Remembrance this year will regretfully be significantly reduced. The service will be restricted to those leading the service, councillors, members of the Royal British Legion, serving or retired military personnel, and those laying wreaths on behalf of various organisations, in order to comply with current Government guidance.

As the Government has stated that contact should be discouraged, other members of the public are requested to pay their respects to the fallen by observing the 11am two-minute silence at home.  A pre-recording of the service will be available for viewing on Haddenham.net.

Everyone attending the commemoration will be expected to observe social distancing, wear a mask and provide their names and contact details for Track and Trace.
Former Parish Councillor David Lyons
Resignation of David Lyons

We are sad to report that David Lyons has decided to step down from his role as Parish Councillor due to work and family commitments. David has been a Parish Councillor since May 2011 and, as a member of the Environment Committee, was instrumental in the establishment of Townsend Community Orchard and in pushing forward environmental issues including the declaration of a Climate Emergency. We will miss David's enthusiasm and passionate contributions to the work of the Council and wish him well in his future endeavours.

David's resignation creates a Casual Vacancy on the Parish Council. Notice of the vacancy has been given to Buckinghamshire Council. The notice and information on becoming a Parish Councillor can be found on the Elections Page of the Parish Council website, as well as an application form for anyone who is interested in applying.

Parish Helpline Still Open

As we brace ourselves for a second round of lockdown, the Parish Helpline is still there for those who need support with accessing groceries/medication whilst self-isolating.

We are fortunate to have many wonderful volunteers in Haddenham, so please don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it!

For help, please contact us on help@haddenham-bucks-pc.gov.uk. Those without internet access can call 07760 458079. Please leave a message and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. To help us deal with requests as efficiently as possible, please use the email address if you are able to do so, including ‘Help’ as the subject title.

Please bear in mind we are not an emergency service - contact 999 in the event of an emergency.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have volunteered to help and have provided assistance within the community so far. We are very lucky to have the help of so many community-minded people within the village!

If you need to contact the Parish Council about other matters, please use clerk@haddenham-bucks-pc.gov.uk

Climate Emergency Update

Since declaring a Climate Emergency in 2019, the Parish Council has been working on an evidence-based approach to identify the highest impact actions to take to reduce carbon emissions. We are now reaching out to local groups within the village to update them on our plans for making Haddenham carbon neutral by 2030.

Parish Councillor David O'Hanlon has been attending online meetings with various village organisations to explain the Parish Council's strategy and why it is so urgent that we act now to reduce emissions.

If you belong to a group that would be interested in an online presentation on what is being done and how to get involved, please let us know. We are keen to involve as many villagers as possible!

To arrange a presentation, please contact us by email on assistantclerk@haddenham-bucks-pc.gov.uk or d.ohanlon@haddenham-bucks-pc.gov.uk.

For more information on what the Council is doing and why, please see the most recent presentation slides.

Solar Scheme Open to Haddenham Residents
Thame Solar Streets is a community solar project that gives home owners and businesses in Thame and Haddenham the chance to buy solar PV roof panels, at around a 20% discount, by taking advantage of bulk purchasing and co-ordinated installations.

In order to benefit from the discount, several people in the same area need to have their installs arranged at the same time.

For further information on what the scheme involves, visit solarstreets.co.uk/thame or www.thamegreenliving.org.uk/projects/solar-streets.
