For many children in our community, hunger consumes their thoughts. Childhood hunger, besides the human suffering, has an adverse effect on the children’s physical and mental health, their behavior and their learning ability.
Dinners For Kids was founded 11 years ago with the goal of solving childhood hunger by providing at-risk children daily prepared nutritious and balanced dinners, accompanied with fresh fruit, ensuring that the children served never again go to bed on an empty stomach, hence eliminating the negative effects of hunger. We started serving 40 children in the West Side, expanded to Dallas and then to Wilkes Barre, and currently serving 50,000 meals to 160 children each year and hope to increase it, with your help.
Will you help today? Dinners For Kids is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) non profit organization with no paid staff, so your entire tax deductible donation will be used to cover the direct cost of preparing the meals.
Will you help us continue our efforts to end childhood hunger in our community?

“This program has helped my two oldest children with weight issues eat healthier with portion control, but most importantly they feel better.”
“My Kids are sleeping better. They also go to school and pay better attention in class. They all look like a new family, they’re doing more things together, and for example they all eat at once. They have time for family.”
“I am writing this letter today to say Thank You so much for the meals we receive. The kids are very grateful for a hot meal! This year the kids have had it really hard. They have been put in my custody and the meals help me, their grandmother, because I live on a fixed income. Knowing the meals are coming is such a relief. I hope the program continues. It means so much knowing the kids are going to have a hot meal, and the meals are delicious! The kids say Thank You so much also. We again are so grateful!”
“I am a single mother with 5 children, ages 1 to 12, living on a fixed income. With this program I do not have to choose between paying bills, food, diapers, clothing, coats, shoes, etc. My children are calmer, they do not complain of being hungry, there is less stress in the home, they are eating healthier meals, and they aren’t filling up on junk food.”
About Dinners for Kids
Founded nine years ago by David and Edna Tevet, Dinners for Kids has provided more than 300,000 meals to food insecure children in the Greater Wyoming Valley. Currently more than 160 children receive 6 dinner meals each week, 52 weeks per year, delivered to their homes by volunteers at no cost to their families.
How is this possible? It is thanks to the financial support of our community and the many volunteers who package and deliver the meals.
