Dear First Parish community,
This spring is full of hope: vaccination is becoming more widespread, the vaccines look good against the current variants, and warmer weather makes meeting outside more possible. Many of us are wondering what the future brings. We look forward to being together in person, and we have questions about how to do so safely.
Rest assured that we as your ministers and staff are thinking through how to safely gather indoors and outdoors. Rev. Amy Freedman, Rev. Liz Weber, and Beth Norton are our designated staff team to address these matters.
At this point, we still have more questions than answers, but we are working on them faithfully. We plan to continue online Sunday morning worship through the summer. We don’t yet know when we will be able to gather in the sanctuary.
We hold care for our multigenerational congregation as our primary value, prioritizing safety for our most vulnerable members. As a Unitarian Universalist community, care for one another and our wider world is at the heart of our mission.
Our actions will be guided by public health metrics, UUA recommendations, and wisdom from our peer congregations.
Currently, outdoor meetings are allowed on the First Parish grounds with certain safety precautions. Please remember to keep 6 feet distancing and wear masks. With the building remaining closed, restrooms are not available and food is not allowed. Thank you for protecting one another by following these guidelines.
Please feel free to contact Liz, Amy, or Beth with questions.
Sending our love and care,
Rev. Howard Dana, Senior Minister
