The session was conducted by Narendra Kumar (Fashion Design 1988-90, Delhi), Sarita Karandikar (Fashion Design 1988-90, Delhi) and Gaurav Verma (Masters in Fashion Management, 2009-2011, Mumbai). The issues covered by the NIFTA industry mentors included career planning, collaborative engagement within live projects to gain understanding of how the "real world" works. The Industry Mentors were also taken through the work done by the students, and Nari offered the opportunity on-the-spot for some communication students to intern with him for one of his projects.

As a part of NIFTA's interactive mentoring series, Bobby Grover (FD 1988-90, New Delhi) and Tanmaya Goswami (FDCT 1995, New Delhi) interacted with students from Textile Design and Fashion Communication, at NIFT Delhi. The students group primarily were those who wanted to have an in-depth understanding what it takes to be a design entrepreneur.

Some of the key take-aways for the students from the session were:

  • Gaining experience through internship is as important as a strong academic profile.
  • Successful Fashion Entrepreneurship is not about just starting a brand but finding the gap in the existing market and seeing how can you serve it better.
  • Learning is a life-long process and with the help of latest technology they can constantly evolve to be better at what they do.

The students said they keenly looked forward to more sessions like this which help them gain in-depth and practical insight into the industry, and provide valuable guidance for their careers.
