Dear all,

Thanks to the wonderful packing, lifting and sorting efforts of our volunteers we've had a successful start at Raine's! Though we're still working out the kinks, we're happy to be making the space our home for the foreseeable future.

To celebrate our new home and our wonderful team of volunteers, Bow Foodbank Ltd hosted a volunteer appreciation evening last week. We heard from a superb panel of people including Mariam Dawood, councillor for Manor Park, Newham, Rushanara Ali, MP for BG and Bow, activist Hibo Wardere, as well as our very own trustee Professor Jon May. Thanks to all those who tuned in! For those who missed it a recording will be made available soon.

Aaand although we're not quite there yet, we wanted to give you a heads up about our plans to celebrate Spring/Easter. We will be distributing sweets to our clients as a small treat, and would be most grateful for any donations of chocolates, biscuits or sweets (does not have to be Easter related!) in the next couple of weeks. This goes for both the Bethnal Green Food Bank and the Bow Foodbank.

Can't make it to Raine's on a Wednesday? Alternative donation points for Bethnal Green can be found here. The Bow drop-off point is the Bromley-By-Bow Community Centre, St Leonard's Street (Bruce Road Entrance), E3 3BT. Bow donations are gratefully received Sundays 12.30-2.45 pm.

Thanks all and we hope you're keeping safe and taking care.

Hang in there,
Your BGFB Team

Catching up with...
our Twitter-wiz Paddy. Paddy has been part of the BGFB since its very beginning, being involved with everything from deliveries to distribution sessions and our socials. He's managed to bring our Twitter followers up to a whopping 740 and we're so happy to have him around! 🙌

We asked Paddy some burning questions....

What's your (East) London secret?
I discovered St Thomas’s Recreation Ground during Lockdown 1 - just off Mare Street it's a small pocket of green space with an abandoned chapel!

If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Probably Ancient Rome to sample the baths.

Which shops do you rely on?
The fish monger and fruit and Veg Stall on Market square.

If you could buy any building in London and live there, which would it be?
Either the Canonbury Tower or Centre Point.

Who would play you in the film of your life?
Jürgen Klopp.

This is the fifth edition of an ongoing series celebrating members of the BGFB community. Thanks Paddy for all you do! Follow the BGFB on Twitter here.

Wishing all those celebrating a Happy Easter in advance!
