Message from the Founder

Hi Friends,

Welcome to another edition of our newsletter!

Summer is quickly approaching, but our work continues for the students at Ecole Mere Louise (EML). The theme for this month’s newsletter is warmth. Warmth can have different meanings, including the warm sensation of the sun on one’s skin. But we must acknowledge that warmth also represents feelings like enthusiasm, affection, kindness, and generosity. The students of Haiti are currently living under harsh conditions. Our mission is to cover them with warmth, so they learn in school and thrive in their daily life.

There are many different avenues that we can take to help with giving warmth. The most critical one is for Itiah Angels for Learning (IAFL) to pay their annual tuition. By being in school, each student is guaranteed a warm meal at lunch. We show affection when we send them beautiful dresses and accessories to help lessen the stigma of being poor and ultimately raise their confidence. We collect toys so they can play. Playing boosts their mental wellness and gives them comfort. These are just a few examples of what we are accomplishing with your ongoing support.

We pray that you will continue to be a part of this humanitarian effort as we go forward. It is true that any extra comfort, no matter how big or small, can go a very long way. Our writers are students who put a lot of time and effort to keep you informed about the progress we are making together. Please continue to read these articles. In this edition, you will find out more information about our summer outreach activities and about our upcoming events.

Happy Father’s day! Enjoy your Juneteenth celebration and we hope you have an excellent summer!

Sincerely,

Marie Thadal

Support IAFL at the Robbinsville Farmers’ Market!
Living in a humid tropical environment, Haitians are well familiar with hot summers and warm weather. Unlike Haiti, for the most part, our weather here in the United States is not all warm year-round. Summer is often a time for outdoor activities and soaking up the sunshine we missed during the cold, winter months. For our friends here in New Jersey, one way to enjoy the sunny summer weather and spend more time outside is to attend the Robbinsville Farmers’ Market! Itiah Angels for Learning (IAFL) will be there, so this would be a great opportunity to learn more about the non-profit and its mission in improving the health and quality of life of the students at the École Mère Louise (EML) elementary school in Haiti. You can speak and meet with IAFL volunteers to find out ways to become involved and use your talents for a compassionate cause...

Having Fun Learning with
Piano Marvel

The school year is finally coming to a close! June is the first summer month of the year, which marks the beginning of summer break for many students. During the school year, students are hard at work learning new subjects like math, art, and writing. However, course overload can easily lead to burnout, which is why summer break offers many benefits for students to relax and enjoy the warmth of summer. Especially for children with disabilities, being involved in a classroom atmosphere for a long period of time may be overwhelming. A break from that allows for a period of reflection and optimizes their brains for a new school year in the fall...

The Robbinsville Township Community Festival Was a Success

It seems that the entire community of Robbinsville came out to participate in the fun. The festival is the township’s most significant event. The forecasted rain did not keep families and children from enjoying the day. The day was warm with the perfect temperature. The Itiah Angels for Learning team along with HANA (The Haitian American Nurses Association) were in attendance to create awareness of our mission and talk about the wonderful work we do around the nation and the world. Our giveaways included hand sanitizers provided to us by Merit Manufacturing, a football, a basketball, a luxurious bath set, and various health and wellness literature...

IAFL Tuition Sponsorship Drive for School Year 2022-2023

It is that time of the year when we start to think about our commitment to pay the tuition for the 100 students at Ecole Mere Louise School. Keeping our little girls in school is critical to our work. The school environment provides the girls a safe place to learn and shields them away from all the drama of their neighborhoods and keeps them off the dangerous street...
