COVID-19 Response:

In July, we began to support families and communities that needed immediate support for daily essentials, especially marginalized communities in Sindhupalchowk and Kavre districts.  In addition, we also organized 15 day-long workshops called “Sneh” for married and out of school girls in Kavre districts.

Last month, we supported a group called Feed the Hungry who distributes food to the needy people and communities during the lockdown and its aftermath.

For the last few months, we have been checking-in with our Girls Advisory Board to learn the effect of COVID-19 and months-long lockdown on them and their communities. While all of their lives have been affected and they have their own way of dealing with the situation.

We also began our COVID-19 response project in Sindhupalchowk district that focuses on capacitating local health institutions and FCHVs ( Female Community Health Volunteers). In the coming months, FCHVs will be supporting pregnant and new mothers to make sure they have access to health facilities and other support. Further,  To mark International Day of the Girl, we announced a “call for art submission on the theme “COVID-19 and its effect on Nepali girls’ lives”. We received several entries and the results will be announced on 11 October 2020.
